Wifes new car but...

Wife had been wanting another Camaro ever since we sold my 85 Z28 shortly after we got married in 1987... Anyway she finds the one she wants puts a down payment down, to pick it up on Monday 2 weeks ago, gets a call Monday am that because of the latest recall she can't pick the car up, it's been 2 weeks now and the dealer has no idea when GM will get them the new keys and fobs to resolve it... anyway here's a picture of it in the dealer lot..

That whole recall is bullshit, I don't want to get rid of my switchblade key fob for an old school separate key and dangling fob like my wifes 09 Impala had. To add insult to injury GM will take our fobs (which are a bunch more expensive than the key/fob option) and not refund you the difference.

Hope they resolve it soon she really wants this car, but if its more than another week I"ll take that down payment check back, and take her to look at a Challenger..

I wonder if we will be given the option to sign a disclaimer that we wish to keep our switch blades?

I have read somewhere that will be an option.

There is something about a red car... (I have three of them). NICE.

Perhaps if the car is already purchased (you did give them a check), they should provide you a free rental while you await your ability to take delivery of your Camaro? Just a thought.

When you get that GM letter about the recall , send it back saying that you no longer own the said vehicle

Wife bought an early 2013 Escape. It was in the shop I think three weeks out of the first four for various electrical issues and recalls. And a couple recalls since. Took it in a couple weeks ago for a 'customer notification' that they might not have done one of the early recall fixes correctly. Four days in for that... and when we got it back they'd applied some kind of upgrade flash to the info display and God knows what else. Local guys don't know what it does... they just know when they have occasion to 'plug in' for one thing, it tells them if there's another flash available. And apparently they just do it. And in our case, something went wrong, because a couple days later the computer completely shit the bed and stranded us. Towed in... answer is, "Obviously, parts of the reprogramming didn't take". That would be the reprogram that they did on their own, without telling us, that wasn't important enough for Ford to let us know was available in the first place.

So... go get your new keys and be grateful. It could be worse. There's probably somebody at Ford that knows what's going on, but it's not the service boys.

I believe ALL recalls are optional. It's your car, not theirs.

is it really so out of the question and unreasonable that the workers who build these cars just maybe take more attention and pride in their work?? i mean really. i cannot remember in so many years past, the number of recalls from manufacturers within the last 3 or 4 years. whats going on? these workers all make a ton more money than me, and we as customers spend big bucks to get stuff that aint produced correctly and is subsequently cover up. what gives??
