That's great, but amazing as the ZL1 hype is up until it's arrival, I don't think it would stand a chance against a lighter, faster shifting 458 or against the Lam especially. I predict it'll surpass the Boss and GT500, but I highly doubt it will defeat any top model Porsche. Think it'll trump a Audi R8. But at 4,xxx pounds? Nope...expect high 11s at most. It would be a serious trump card if Chevy can get they're ZL1 down under 4,000 pounds, don't see it happening, but if they did, BOY OH BOY, talk about trouble.......

Dont forget that FBODfather said in a topic on the official horsepower rating that not everything has been unveiled yet on the 2012 ZL1 and that they have another surprise. I dont know what that could be could be lower weight or even more horsepower we will have to wait and see. I think the 580HP is probably pretty much set in stone since its been SAE rated but you never know what else they could have up their sleeves to enveil still!

Hey, the Nissan GTR weighs 3829 lbs according to the specs I read which isn't light in my book. My 1SS RS weighs 3840. I'm sure the ZL1 will weigh at least 4,000lbs. It will be interesting to see how it compares to this line up of super cars! I was surprised at the poor performance of the Boss 302...I thought it would do better...if you believe the Mustang fanboys, the Boss 302 will beat all of these cars!...lol.

I think our best wish could be to lower the overall weight of the car,....that in itself would do more for performance, especially since it's already got a wicked suspension setup. Let me guess, they're going to announce they're offering a ZL1 supercharger package for the SS. That's the only thing they'll brighten my day since Im not getting one. I just don't see how the ZL1 with it's current specs can get even better.

The only reason the GTR excels in performance like it does above the others is nothing more than that AWD and it's fast shifts cause It's no light car. An awd system carries hella weight. And as far as the boss goes, I think it's overrated;didn't perform that great to me, the trap says it all. An SS with a full exhaust,header, and cai setup can do the same. And I really don't think the uneven or rough surface of the airstrip helped it's cause; neither did it of the Z06, which didn't finish as close as I'd like. The GTR was lucky on this one.

I don't like the idea of an 11 car drag race. It is a show of 11 different drivers, which means 11 different driving skills and style.

Yeah, a ZR1 would've walked all over those cars, with the exception of the 2012 GTR. That would've been the only real competition for the ZR1. Now throw a 911 Turbo S in there instead of a GT3, and now we're talking.

A 2 car drag race is a war between 2 people....the way it should be. This 11 car drag race is just a novelty for show and it will create alot of criticism amongst car enthusiasts. I guess that's what Motor Trend had in mind anyways, lol.

I guess the BMW 1 series M was in that field for cannon fodder or what? They could have at least picked the M3 or M6! Even the X5M is faster than that!

Get to a race track during any national event and you'll see better races any day. Shoot, I thought this was going to be a flashback of Shirley and Big Daddy, or maybe the Mongoose and the Snake, or Grumpy and Sox&Martin.

Nothing wrong with World War Car Apocalypse in my opinion

I've seen Pinks: All Out do 4 car drag races before, and that was fun to watch.

If you got a track wide enough, with enough safety features, I would have no problem drag racing against multiple cars.

Overall, this wasn't too bad a guage of how fast those cars were relative to each other. It wasn't a serious test, but it was a fun test...

I was surprised to see it too considering they had better options to choose from in the BMW lineup.
