GM Ignition Key Recall (See the new key here)

Vise to hold the key. Cut into the plastic of the key (not the fob). Separate the key metal out of the plastic. Get loctite gel from Home Depot or lowes. Pace some gel into the slot of the fob where the key would fit into. Now place the key into the slot and leave until it cures.

The metal rod is not necessary, but if you want, buy a few #19 nails and cut to length, then place some of the gel on them and put the rod through the hole.

You're done.

Maybe I'll make a video of the other key i got from the dealer when I bought the car.....

Took my new separated key to a locksmith and they made a copy from the switchblade blanks they had. They put a pin back in it. All done.

$25.00 to cut the keys. I bought another fob off ebay and another key cut. I went to the hardware store to get a tension pin as GM apparently issued an order to locksmiths to not distribute pins. If anyone needs the pin, a 1/16" x 3/8" will work. So, I know have 2 fobs fully functional as intended and 1 with the bastard setup to take to the dealer and anyone who may drive the car and think they are the switchblades of death.

You don't need to do that -- just cut the blade out of the plastic key, and use the loctite gel to glue it into the fob. That's it.

Yeah, I know I could have cut them a part, but this way, I have both the recall format and the original switchblade.

It appears to be genuine. I can't tell a difference between the two.
