RPM Motorsports tune, LMR CAI dyno results inside...

Brian brought us his fresh(143 miles) Silver Ice Metallic 2010 SS in for a LMR Cold air kit and a dyno tune. Final #'s were 376 rwhp. Here is a graph and some pics of his ride... I am sure with a few miles on this car and a oil change LOL he will pick up some HP !!

First pull is stock , 2nd is w/CAI added , third is tuned and CAI ..

Is this a manual car? If so, that's about 17% dt loss, right? Is that expected, even for a brand new car?

Yeah its a manual. Every car is going to vary on the dyno as far as mileage etc ...

Also there was 1/2 of a tank of 87 OCTANE in there from the dealer mixed with the 93 Bryan put in .

I've been seriously considering the LMR intake...however I read your earlier post of an avg. 8 HP gain with the LMR, and that just doesn't seem like much at all....hell, I think I read somewhere on here that you get more than that just putting a K&N filter in the stock box! Lets see....K&N-$50, LMR-$400???? WTF! Oh, I got time..my cars been just sittin in SC waiting for a truck since last Wed!!! Dang it!!!

I figured 1/2 87 and 1/2 93 = 90 octane

I would bet a tank of 93 would have bumped the base 356 up to 365-370 and 10-15 more after tune/cai !

Depends on the relationship you have with your local GM service manager. I have the hookup. So my warranty is still kickin'....

Each to their own..... I am just as happy with the difference in the way it sounds replacing the intake. Like Matt said I had closer to 5/8 tank of pure shit (87) and then I topped it off with 93. So I was pretty much running 88-89 at the most. I betcha when I get my Cam and Heads and a re-tune I will be busting over 450!

Its all in what you want ... When you keep on modding the car headers , cam , heads etc ... The CAI will be worth more than 8-9 rwhp ... New ERA claimed what 18-19 rwhp but that car had a LS7 427 .. When we do the cam swap on Brians car I will swap out the LMR for stock and see what we loose ? I bet the gains will more than double !!

I was talking/bugging the poop out of the tuner , (IIRC) he said with the stock tune and the LMR intake Bryan's car was getting KR (pulling timing) .
Goes back to the LOW octane thing , with 93 the stock tune/LMR could have run the full timing cruve and = more of a gain with just the intake .

I got a good look at the LMR intake , smooth bends/1 pipe with out a lot of coulpers(like other cai) and a very isolated air fliter . It a very nice pice , looks very good and sounds G R E A T .
I would not write it off of your list just yet .
