Cutting off mufflers

is just cutting my mufflers off and replacing them with straight pipe a good idea? I've seen SLP and bassani's muffler delete axle backs but i'm trying to save money and i just want it to be louder, i've seen a few videos on youtube and it sounds pretty good. what do you think?

I did it and they sound great. I bought the magnaflow 16582 from jdp motorsports. 5" tips are awesome, I get a lot of compliments.

Just cut them. That whats on my dads car. Sounds great, but is also good for just cruising. We are running just the stock tips.

I did the muffler Delete over a year ago at a muffler shop for $140. Yes, it's a good idea if you are trying to save money and want ALLOT more throaty V-8 sound from your car.

Have the shop remove your resonators too while your at it...adds a bit more sound as well...

This is all assuming you have an LS3.

Had my mufflers removed and pipe welded back in. They reused the tips. Only cost $50. It sounds great. I just installed a set of Kooks LT headers with cats yesterday n had it tuned. Now it sounds AWSOME
