How much would you pay for a 5th gen Z28?

Lets say for argument sake GM eventually offers a Z28. Tell me what you would be willing to pay? Keep in mind a 2SS is around $38,000 ish and a ZL1 base is $54,000. So here are the specs...What would you pay?

1) The car would weigh 450 lbs less.
2) The car would have a standard Hurst Short Throw Shifter
3) The car would be a 6.2 liter that produced 470 HP
4) Of course the car would have special Z28 badging.
5) Same suspension as SS

If Chevy would offer this what would you pay?

I would be willing to pay $47,000 for the base model

Sorry...

I was too excited to post this and forgot to put it on the correct section!

$46k, right in between the other two prices. And it should have the LS7 @ 500 hp, 18" lightweight wheels, and lighter/better mufflers than what comes on the SS.

I would be willing to pay $47,000 for the base model
1) 450 lb. less than the ZL1's 4120 Curb = 3670...a tad optimistic...by about 150-200 lb. HD driveline/brakes weigh more than 1SS, which weighs 3860... Base ZEE, as below, will be 3800+.
2) Yes, of course.
3) 6.2/470 hp does not exist in RPO form. See below...
4) Restraint is required; "pimping" not required...
5) Uh-uu-uh..."enhanced FE4", with option of MRC. A ZEE has always been more than a mere SS, handling-wise...well at least when it was "making a name" for itself...

$47,000 should get you a 1SS + LS7/MG9 + ZL1 wheels/tires/brakes/driveline/suspension, with 1LS trim...

$40,000 should get you the above with LS3/M10 and 3.73 gears (aka 1SS-1LE).

In both cases, 2SS trim as an option-only. Slippery leather doesn't work so great on a road course...

EDIT:
The premise of a stripped-down SSX-like "race-ready" ZEE will NOT happen...and neither will Z06-like diets filled with exotic fat-farm spa treatments...at least NOT in Oshawa...

For that car? I know that if GM built it it would cost more than I could afford.

I would love a 3600lb camaro with a modified LS7@550hp or so. not sure they could save that much wieght though. I have nothing against the LSA but turbo's and blowers add wieght and to an already heavy car that sucks.

I would love to see a Z06 Z07 with about 50more hp. I think it would rival the ZR1 and that is why we won't see it. At some point with 2wd and current tire technology you need less wieght not more power.

My only issue's with the current camaro that I can honeslty say baffle me are the wieght and the stupid radio design. I have come around to like most of the other stuff. The lack of nav and stupid radio is an easy fix so who cares but the wieght not so easy.

This would never be considered a Z28.

See Lowdown's comments and look through other Z28 threads for a heads up.

[Repost from 11/08/11, a week before ZL1 pricing announcement]

Business Case Review:

2SS - 1SS = $3,600
1SS = 1LT in non-driveline content (20" - 18" alloys excepted)
1LT - 1LS = $2,000 + $600 (18" alloys - 18" steelies) = $1,400, net.

Therefore, a 1SS built with 1LS content/trim (Z/28 basics) = $5,000 advantage over ZL1 content/trim (at least!)

Soooo...Z/28 basics + LS7 = $5,000 price advantage over ZL1! Keep in mind, folks, that a ZL1 includes MR and all the HD driveline bits 'n pieces and forged 20s/tires...and the coolers...and so would the Z/28...with about 175 fewer lb, mostly off the nose...

Whatever the price released in 7 short days' time for the ZL1, you could have yourself an LS7-Z/28 (-150 to 200 lb.) for at least $5Gs less...

If you make all the ZL1 trim trinkets optional on Z/28 (as essentially a 2SS upgrade), along with the coolers 'n such, an LS7 - Z/28 could, in fact, Base for $47,000...and a 1SS - 1LE would arrive @ $40, or less...

1LE @ $40 = BOSS

Z/28 @ $47 = BOSS LS

Want one?

If so, please don't keep it a secret from GM...

And if you really-really want Boston Accoustics and Back-up Camera and cowhide seats 'n such, why there's always an option box or two to tick...along with the coolers...
