I NEED HELP!! FAST!!
Hello fellow Camaro brethren and veterans!! I need your professional knowledge and opinion. Unfortunately I come from a part of the world where certain sizes of tires are not easily available, UAE, in the Middle East!!
The thing is that I have ordered and received 22" Vossen wheels, and the problematic wheels here are the rear wheels. They are 22X10.5. Now the recommended tires for these are 315/25ZR22 or 295/30ZR22. Here in the UAE, I can not trace down any tires of those sizes. I got 295/30ZR22 but they are in the Pirelli Scorpion Zero series which are actually for SUVs. The next best thing I found was 295/25ZR22 by Nitto, in the INVO range but the people at Vossen say they don't really suggest the 25 series profile since it is too low. I believe I can get my paws on a set of 285/30ZR22 from the INVO range but my question to you all is, will that work? On a 10.5" rim? Its a piss-taker because thousands of dollars and patient days later, I now have my wheels but no tires to mount ride on! What a buzz kill man!! Guys....please help me! |

I ordered 22" vossen cv3s with falken 295/25/22 for rear and 255/30/22 for front. The vendor i bought them from says this is the popular size that he sells. The diameter of the 25s are actually only .2" smaller then the 30s

Recommended 22" tires for 2010 Camaro
245/35-22 = 28.8" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel 255/35-22 = 29.0" tall, 8.0-8.5 wheel 265/30-22 = 28.3" tall, 8.5-9.0 wheel 275/30-22 = 28.5" tall, 9.0-9.5 wheel 285/30-22 = 28.8" tall, 9.5-10.0 wheel 295/30-22 = 28.9" tall, 9.5-10.5 wheel 305/30-22 = 29.2" tall, 10.0-11.0 wheel 315/25-22 = 28.2" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel Based on this chart, provided by Nineball of DV8 Motoring, you are just outside the range for the 285 but this is a guideline not set in stone. I would say go ahead with the 285's since you are so close it should not be an issue. T.

The drag strip is like sniffing glue, it's cheap, it's a decent buzz, it doesn't last long and they are all the same. Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different. I can't wait for my next Track fix. Well, i wanna ask, is there any difference between SUV tires and normal other tires. The reason i ask is because the right required size option is availble but in brands like pirelli scorpion zero and vredestein ultrac SUV sessanta are offering them but for SUVs. Sizes in question are 315/30ZR22 by vredestein and 295/30ZR22 by pirelli.
So does it matter if we use these the SUV tires on our camaros? |

SUV tires don't have the speed rating that performance tires have. It could be dangerous at high speeds. I also believe the side wall compound might be different but I could be wrong.

I have winter scorpions which are SUV tires and they work just fine. My other set are all season toyo proxy II's that are also made for SUVs. It really doesn't make a huge difference if they're for SUVs. They still get tons of grip, and the toyos are rated up to 165 mph. My guess is the only time they'd make a negative difference is if you tracked your car every week. Ask one of the wheel dealers on here. Besides, most of them can set you up with just about any tire you want.

Hey...I'm having the same concerns and or issues in regards to which tire and size to use with my Assanti (22"Kinesis K118 30 35 offsets).
Have you lowered your car and if so which spring...I'm running HR sport springs, that being said I'm considering using 305/30/22 and 265/30/22 Perelli P Zero Nero...they are expensive but maybe worth a look. I still haven't settled on a tire and or size as of yet hopefully soon. Good luck and keep us informed as to your choice and or direction. Regards, Rob |
