Stock ZL1’s aren’t 10 second cars and stock vs stock the gt500 will win all night in Mexico.

I haven't seen any concrete info on weight. Who said it'll be 4200 pounds? And actually, even if it is and it has 700+ hp that may be enough to not matter. Hellcats are over 4500lbs and can keep up or beat a ZL1 in a straight line.

What's everybody's problem with the gear selector knob? It's just there to select park, reverse, neutral, drive, and manual mode. Most Ford vehicles have that now and manufacturers commonly keep switchgear like that common across their lineups. It's cool to me since the car doesn't need a floor mounted shifter and it unclutters that console area.

This car will not sticker any $100k. How does this "look" like it will be the one? If we're talking markups, GT350R's have already crossed that mark.

And Ford has had a long time to develop the GT500. So it better not be flop like the GT350 and GT350R.
The DCT is a brand new transmission from Tremec. If I'm not mistaken, this will be the first car it is used in. And you must be joking about the GT350 being a flop? They were far from a flop. The R's still go for over sticker price to this day, and it's over 3 years after launch. The regular models still command sticker or very small discounts at most. You're very wrong here.

Several forum members have broken into the 10's with A10 ZL1's, but it's not common. If he GT500 can put the power down, and has well over 700hp, it will be faster no doubt.

You’re right... The only video I found on YouTube of a 100% stock zl1 ran a 10.943 on a very cold night.

Lots of hype is right...for the past few years. All the reports I've read are mid 3 second 0-60 times. Yawn (at over $100k).

If it is +$100k w/ markups, I'm unimpressed. I think msrp will be mid to upper $70k. At that price point, I am impressed. Even though not much has been done to the interior (Recaros are std.).

I am waiting on the skidplate as they are marketing this as a track killer. Will it take 1.3 g's like the 1LE does?

I think the "flop" he is talking about is the quality. Who cares about some made up price that some idiot will pay. I had the GT350 and there were too many problems with it so I got the ZL1. No problems. The GT350 engine oil usage is so bad that Ford changed the normal usage to 500 miles per quart because they were tired of replacing engines. That was the usage on mine. POS. Done with Ford....

Ok sorry, I digressed. Forgive me for I have sinned.....

same here...really a mustang guy at heart, but that 350 was a POS. after i knew my new engine was good, i traded it and could not be happier.

it will be interesting to see if they are able to up the QC in this new expensive monster, or if they didn't learn a thing from all the complaints of their current halo car.

I know you have had bad 1st hand experience with the car and the engine and numerous other quality problems that some of them have are serious, but all in all the the car has been a hit for Ford. I think mainly because Shelby's seem to bring out fanboys like no other but also because the car is actually good and the first time Ford has really gone all in on a Mustang that can hold it's own on a road course. And I tried to secure one of them at msrp back in 2016 so I know exactly what kind of idiots are out there. But like it or not that is somewhat of a measuring stick of a cars success/popularity. The R was a sure thing to command Adm because of "limited" production, but to see GT350's still holding firm on msrp or slightly below 3 years later does say something. On a funny note about quality, when i was searching for a GT350 years ago I ran across one on cars.com that had cloth seats in the rear and leather seats in the front. How do you miss that in the inspection?

The 2020 Shelby GT500 makes 650TQ 4500RPM 720HP @ 7500 RPM . Hellcat makes their power down low like the ZL1. 4225 GT500 Curb Weight will not win anything in Canada or Mexico. Sub 11 sec quarter mile or a sub second 0-60!!

ZL1 makes 650TQ @ 3600RPM. 650HP @ 6400 RPM

guys I'm almost positive that "leaked" spec sheet on M6G was debunked months ago.

It came out with the engine specs & data. People thought the picture of the engine was fake as well. So far it has all checked out. Someone posted info from the owners manual as well. They guessed the rear axle ratio? 465 pound gain from the GT350

I think this car will sticker close to $80K before options. Then the dealers will have a bidding war with their victims...er..customers after that.

DCT is cool, but I would not bet the farm that it doesn't develop problems, especially after some hard launches. With the oil consumption of the GT350 and all this newness, I wouldn't be looking too closely at this car, personally.

But then again, I have a practically brand new '18 ZL1 that stuns and amazes me every time I drive it.
