Here are a few from our Cub Scout era.
There are also 2 that were made in high school ,they are set up to run on a guide wire .They were propelled by co2 cartridges. Those two have holes drilled in the back of them to accept the cartridge.
There are also 2 semis that the last year Cub scouts raced (Weblos).
These were kits offered by the Boy Scouts of America , they are set up to run on the same track as the cars but with 1 extra 8 ft section added.
After 3 years of building cars the older scouts got to do the Semis to keep it interesting.
I don't think they offer the semi kits any longer.
The Corvette looking car was made from a standard cub scout Pinewood derby kit .We added 3/8 inch pine to either side to get the fenders over the wheels. This car looks good but was very slow. The car just in front of the vette was very fast.(Ketchup if you can).It won our pack races and won the county wide race that year also.If memory serves there were 400+ cars raced that day.

Thanks for the comments.
We always had other Scouts parents accuse me of helping to much with the cars.
I am a hobbyist woodworker so I have more tools than the average household. My boys were very involved in the build process and learned the use of many tools and products.
We never criticized other cars unless they did not build them to our packs guidelines.Every Scout built their car within the means they had available.Several times cars won that were nothing more than a block of wood with 4 wheels attached and washers screwed to it for weight. lol
I used to have a few nights set aside for any Scout to come with their parent(s) to used my shop and any tools/experience I had.Its amazing how few took advantage of this.
Kudos to any parents who spend the time to help their kids, be it Scouts ,Sports ,Music, etc . Too many Kids just get "Tossed under the bus" and are left to fend for themselves.

Very nice too both!!!! Those CO2 cars look sick! I was involved in scouts when I was younger and had some cool ones. I had an old 30's ford convertible coupe, F1 car, old pickup truck, and some others that I can't remember. My Dad still races them for Awanas at his church and generally wins in the adult group. Pinewood is a lot of fun and you can't have too much graphite...well technically you can
