Anyone Considering a Tesla Model 3?
The Camaro is a pretty good performance bargain and I'm strongly interested in one. I'm also interested in future car technology (yes I realize electric cars have been around forever) and many say once you go full electric you won't want to go back to an ICE.
I'm torn because I've never owned a good old American RWD V8 and have always wanted to. Nothing beats the sound and engaging driving experience. On the other hand, having an electric car with instantaneous torque and quiet, vibration free driving would be great for a daily driver. That and never having to stop at a gas station again would be really nice. Has anyone else thought this over? It's vastly different cross shopping, but both still can be considered enthusiasts cars. |

I strongly considered it. However, came to the conclusion that what I wanted out of my car was pure fun and performance. Model 3 is great progress for the future. I'm sure it's going to be a great car. But in the end, it'll be just like driving any other non-sports car. I want the sport car experience. I want to fly around corners, go from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds flat, hear the engine roar, have my heart racing, and my adrenaline kicking in. I won't get that with the Model 3.
You just have to decide what you want in a car and what your priorities are. If you want to stop worrying about gas, oil changes, and have a quieter, more practical car, Model 3 might be for you. If you want, well, everything I said earlier, go for the Camaro. |

No. I looked at the Tesla just before the model 3 was released... it fit more in line with the SUV group and the others were too expensive. Plus it's in a whole different class.

Very interesting cross-shopping! I think TSLA will under-deliver.

I love what Tesla is doing. My issue with Tesla and any pure electric vehicle is charge times. They still require you to find something to do while they recharge. If I was to go electric, it would be the Volt right now.
Plus I don't dig the Tesla 3's grille-less design and Tesla's are all straight line performance. They don't go around corners all that well. |

Buy a Camaro now and sell it when you can actually get a model 3. I think if you reserve a model 3 now you might have in 2018.

This! What is MORE important to you, the thrill of driving, or the tech behind it? Both are amazing cars and would love to have a Tesla as a DD. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If finances allow, use a Model 3 as a daily driver and the Camaro as a weekend car. I am keeping my paid-off Prius even though I have an SS Camaro on order. It'll keep it nicer for longer, and will keep all those hard-driven miles on the Prius. When that's driven into the ground, I plan to replace it with a Model 3 or a Volt.

An overkill AC electric motor retro-fit for the camaro would definitely be awesome.
solid state lithium is not that far off. We're basically 1 battery generation away from ICE killers for the majority of the motoring public's use. |

I can't wait to own a Tesla. I'm probably always going to own a performance car, but I'm hoping the Model 4 (supposedly cheaper than the Model 3) will be cheap enough for me to afford it and a GT/SS/SPS in a few years. As long as it doesn't look like a Smartcar, I wouldn't mind an economical grocery getter.

Forget Tesla. Just get the Bolt. Unless you are hung up on Tesla simply for the sake of Elon, there is no reason to wait two years when you can get a Bolt in in a couple of months.

Thought about it but I'd rather have a fun manual driving experience
