RX Catch Can 3000 Mile Results

Just wanted to share a pic with the people that Still don't have a RX Catch Can .

This is what was drained while doing a oil change at 3000 miles . The Car has 13,000 miles on it . I'm using Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil .

I still say these are a Must for keeping the oil out of our Manifolds !

I see the catch can kept oil out of the intake via the PVC line. Check that breather line coming from the drivers side valve cover going to the intake tube. That's where I have noticed oil is starting to enter mine at.

Nice to know that oil is NOT getting ingested into the engine. Remember folks this 3.6 L is not a two-stroke and does not require oil in the upper end thru the air intake.

I don't have that tube installed anymore .. Have the RX breather so that plastic line was Deleted .

It accumulates on the valves. The direct injected motors cannot clean the valves and gunk since the gas with additives is injected directly.

Also any oil in the intake air charge results in less power produced as oil does not burn well. You want onlu air and fuel. Take some motor oil (your brand you use) and pour it into a bowel and try to light it on fire. It wont. So it reduces the power released per explosive event, and thus poor fuel economy as well. That and it causes detonation (spark knock from the incomplete burn) so the ECU picks this up and pulls timing.

Unless it is specially formulated 2 stroke oil designed to burn clean.

Here are pictures of what happens to your valves:

Say I get a catch can. What do I use to clean my intake after I install it? I have the composite intake, LFX V6.

is it hard to install a catch can ? and why didn't this come from the manufacture with a catch can ? i dont see how chevy is ok with that much oil being sucked onto the manifolds

I've used GM topend cleaner on some vehicles to clean carbon deposits on valves, be prepared to smoke out the neighborhood for a good 1/2 hour if you try that stuff

You can probably use seafoam additive in the gas tank that works ok also

Definately get a catch can when you can though
