When HPI came out with the build it yourself kit in Nitro form about 10 years back, I was able to get it to 50mph with a 2 speed shifter and oversized wheels.

Painted many an R/C body in my old age but man it's been awhile and having one heck of a time trying to find a decent color match for IBM. 4 Different Cans of Blue. Backed with Silver. Backed with Black.

More $ in paint than body.

Still not happy. Running out of scrap pieces of plastic to test

go to the dr colochip site and buy some of the ibm paint... no more guess work

here is a picture of mine, done about a year ago, not bad for a rookie!! It started red, just like yours bee sting. Took the hole car apart, sanded it and painted it.
