"Ghost cam" tune for a v6??

I don't know if anyone else has come across this yet, but this is a 2011 v8 Mustang that has VVT. I guess you can tune the VVT to sound like a pair of aftermarket cams (I imagine by adding overlap), and from what I've found and read on this particular setup, it goes back to the normal VVT setup after 1200 RPMs.

Last I heard the v6 wasn't really tunable yet, but that was quite some time ago... I'm wondering if this can be done with the v6 since it also has VVT? I'm thinking with the right exhaust you could probable get an otherwise stock v6 to sound like a v8 if this was possible. Thoughts?

Interesting. I guess I could ask Vince at Trifecta if he can do it. Probably can, but I still don't think it will sound like a V8. Have you heard cammed V6s? Sound bad ass, but the sound difference comes from the number of compression strokes per cycle. V6 will still sound like a V6, just a little more bad ass with the cammed tune

Good find man, keep 'em coming

That would be awesome! Talk about a headturner. Now, if that can be tuned, and the overlap in true cams = horsepower, would tuning be able to unlock some extra HP if it stayed active longer than just 1200?

Of course, the camed tune could be the reverse. Turn off the injectors every third cycle so it has a lope to the sound without the change in actual cam profile. Fire, Fire, miss, fire, fire, miss, fire, fire, repeat. (no idea if that would work. just trying to think of a way to get the sound.)

Wow. I'm interested.

Of course if it can hurt the engine I'm out, but I think this would be sweet. Yes I've heard vids of cammed V6s and they can sound very BA.

Go ahead and send him a link. I was just going to do it the next time I send him some logs (hopefully this weekend). Although cool, this really isn't my bag of tea. I'm going for the nearly complete sleeper. I want everyone to think all she has is SLP exhaust and shorties.

I'm convienced it could be tuned for more HP with some dial in on the lobes via VVT. Be better with a VVT cam though... Just gotta get someone interested in playin, with it a bit...
