Torque converter question
I'm liking to go bigger on my torque converter. Currently have a 3200 right now. I want to go to a 3600 or 3800. I'm cammed, full bolt ons, 3.91 gears, 17 drag radials.
Realistically in the 1/4 mile, what kind of improvement would I see going from 3200 to 3600 or 3200 to 3800. I fully realize there are many variables (tune, weather, DA, etc) that would go into this, but what would a good general idea for 1/4 improvement? Thanks! |

Your converter builder (Circle D, Precision Industries, Yank etc) will need your entire car specs........compression ratio, cam lift/duration, weight etc. They will then build a converter that will suit your needs for maximum performance. All 3 are great choices, I went with Precision Industries for my 3v because Circle D didn't have friction material for the converter clutch and I knew Precision made a great converter too. Have no regrets whatsoever.

I gave Brian at Circle D all the info and he sent out a 3C 3600 stall, also added a certified flexplate with ARP bolts. If/when I go centri, then the converter will go back and they'll modify for the new setup.

Why don't you get the converter built for the centri first? Eliminate R&R of the transmission and downtime associated with such. It won't hurt driveability one bit
