Bye Bye to My ZL1

I just returned from a ~2,500 mile road trip to Maryland and up to Gettysburg PA for a day visit on Monday, 9/30. The ZL1 was flawless. It performed as well as anyone could ask. I am glad for the 30 months of ownership.

However, I have made a change. I was able to work a deal on a 2019 MB CLS 450. It was a 1 owner with ~9,100 miles. I was able to trade both my ZL1 and my Honda truck. This reduced our fleet and I now have a car with a bit more luxury and comfort for these 2,500 mile trips I enjoy. Unfortunately, the car seems to be smarter than I am and I have a bit of a learning curve to master all of the technology. I hope that I can continue to hang around and not be booted off just because I made a trade.

Congratulations. That’s a nice car. My friend across the road has an e63s. It’s tuned. It’s a bit of a monster. Nice cars for sure. Only if we could keep all the nice cars we buy.
Like Revalot said, family first. Again congrats.

Looks like a beautiful Benz. I love the "shark-like" front end and also love the controversial rear design. In California where cars like this are common, I've only seen two since inception of this latest generation. Tells me they are pretty rare.

Complete 180 from your ZL1 however. Do you think you will miss the fun the ZL1 offered?

Nice looking ride. I always been a sucker for a fast 4 door sedan and previously owned a 2017 SS.
Check into purchasing an extended warranty as I been told minor repairs are very costly once the factory warranty expires.
Good luck.

There will be times that I'll miss the ZL1. I am not that naïve. The ZL1 was a fun house just waiting for you to jump in and ride. However, on those long road trips where you are sitting at speed limit +8 or 9 for hours, I think this car will be better.

I have already explored the extended warranties. I bought a warranty that covers the tires, wheels (AMG appearance package) and door dings. I will likely pick up an extended warranty as the factory one nears expiration .... if I keep the car that long. I do have a bad habit..

Well, it’s a nice car but a bit underwhelming. I don’t drive my Z daily so I have a 340I as my daily. Fun little car and great for the day to day.

I certainly wouldn’t trade my ZL1 for a 4 door unless it was something like a Panamera Turbo.

Beautiful car ! My car is basically a hybrid it's self, ZL1 with all the OEM 1LE options added except shocks and 19 inch wheels/tires !
So it's just a little trash talk on my end ! Plus it looks like a killer Orca whale ! LOL !!!!

Big, smooth cruiser, which is what you wanted. The ZL1 is an angry freeway bruiser - that's what I wanted :-) Enjoy

I like the AMG GT alot

I really like those, too. I drove a couple at the AMG Driving Academy at COTA. They are great vehicles. However, my retirement budget didn't stretch to that territory. I would have had to get a job.... Welcome to Wal-Mart and driving an AMG GT just seemed to be at cross purposes.
