Cool Completed DIY Concept Afterburner Taillights for 10$ & an hour of work. LOTS OF PICS!

First of all, I used this thread: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=235878

And a member in that thread offered to make these for people if they pay shipping etc, but they are really easy to make yourself if you want.

I wanted the concept look, over the AAC look, and I love the SJM Autoprod & Gen5 DIY versions but they were out of my price range (even though they look much better than the diy)

In person they look exactly like I wanted them to. You dont have to open the housing, just dremel a little slit on top and slide in these semi-circle pieces of aluminum.

I decided to paint the outer face black so it wouldnt reflect in the sunlight and look really light (kinda like the non-rs housings).

Below are pictures in the daylight, in the shade, with them on, off, and with the brakes on. As well as some pics of the install and pieces.

1. The first picture only shows one side done, and I hadnt centered the pieces yet
2. The last picture is how they look with the lights completely off, in the sunlight.

My only tip is to read the entire DIY thread for full instructions, and dont wash them out with water to get the shavings out like is mentioned, getting the water out of the lens took about 12 hours between a blow dryer, sitting them in front of a fan all night, and the warming drawer of my oven for 30 mins haha.

Cool! I wonder though, if anyone has ever tried making this with a semi-transparent template.. like a smoked piece of lexan? That wy i would think that u could get a little more light shining thru but still get the effect.

I would like it more if it were a Dolphins hat in the pic, but well done.

Good idea, easy to cut out lexan or plexiglass and add some tint.

I dunno. I respect the effort but that didn't turn out very well IMO.

This is a bit off topic, but those quad tips look killer!

Thanks man! I have more pics in my build thread, I just added the ZL1 diffuser, and would really like to lower the tips an inch or inch and a half.
They were centered with my old diffuser and look a little high with this new one.

But I love them! 4"
