A higher stall converter will deliver quicker launch and 60' times with drag radials. Trans heat and TC clutch lockup are issues. There is a new aftermarket TCM program that will lockup the converter at WOT.

Deeper gears will produce better acceleration after the launch - once RPM is above TC stall. Gears do cause a small gas mileage hit - all the time. Gears still require a trans tune.

wow this torque converter stuff is really interesting! Im a noob with this and i see most of you know what you're talking about, so please bare with me...

would y'all suggests a 3200 for everyday street driving or a 2800?
Im guessing a bigger cooler is a must, as well a Tune right?...Any recommendations?
I also read something about lockup problems...whats needed to prevent that?
where exactly do you install a tc?
What are you guys opinion about under drive pullys & Ported Throttle bodys?
Don't want gears because they fool with the Mpg.

Happy New Year!!! Advice would greatly be apreciated

We have yet to have a customer have us do a 2800-3000 stall in a NA driver and not be disapointed and wish they would have went with our reccomendation.

The FTI 3600 in a daily driver will drive like near stock when tooling around mellow and locked up on the highway cruising, but put your foot in it & watch out. NO better acceration mod will do more for the money (as long as you get the RIGHT TC). We guarantee (traction dependant) .5-.7 seconds 1/4 mile improvement over stock or we buy it back if we did the install/tune so its done correctly.

It's more dramatic than can be described.

I just put a circle d triple disk 3200 stall and 3.91 gears in at the same time. Had Matt @FSP do the tune and well, the grin on my face hasn't gone away!! I'm very happy with this upgrade!! Definitely need some drag radials....hard launch spins the tires in 1st gear but at highway speeds, drop it down a couple of gears and hang on!!!!

It "flashes" to a much better RPM on your torque curve. This allows the vehicle to move from a standing start much quicker.

Are the yank converters best bank for the buck? And what would be the benefit of running a lockup converter?

And does anyone know if the camaro stall converters are the same for a g8 or a caprice since they both have 6l80e transmissions?
