Anyone have engine issues with the 2010 v-6?

Was toying with the idea of trading the car in for a 2016. I like the updated look.

Since the car is paid off the logical part of me says keep it for a while and enjoy no car payment. The stupid part of me says get out while the getting is good and get something that you wont have to fix in the coming years.

Before I can agree on that I would love to hear what issues you guys had and how long the engine should last in a perfect world.

I have 68k on it in 5 years. All fluids changed all the time. Have a catch can on it after I put in the manifold spacers and saw the gunk on the valves.. OMG if you never did the catch can you need to look at your valves and have a heart attack like I did. They build up gunk fast and restrict air flow.

So... How many miles do you have on your car and what went wrong when?

Your input will really help me decide.

105,000 Miles never had any failures or issues aside from the pathetically soft clear coat on these cars. I put my catch can on at 25k and your right when you say holy sh!t that looks bad when you first open up your intake manifold. In a perfect world your engine should last a very long time if you do regular maintenance and drive your car like you obviously do. Garage queens will run into issues well before 25k far more often and those unfortunately are the stories you hear more often because those with working cars who drive them regularly don't complain about them nearly as much.

2009/2010 at 25,500 slow gentle miles and all AOK.
Oil change every 3k :-O
CAI, PTB, Catch Can at 13,500miles, Isolator, Dropped, CAT-back ...

I had 51,000 on my 2010 2lt when I traded it in on my 2016. Loved my v6 and never had a problem with it the entire time I had it. Couldn't resist the urge to pick up a 2016 though and I'm really glad I did because it's a great car too.

85,000 and still strong and I'm pretty rough on her. As long as you don't start consuming unusual amounts of oil it should be perfectly fine. I feel like the tranny/rear end will go out on the car before the motor does.

Coming up on 7 yrs this summer.
38k miles and no major issues, had a re-flash done and had a problem
with my Ign cylinder.
Dexos Oil changes every 4k.

Other than that it is a great, fun car that still puts a smile on my face.

And I've never read here or anywhere else about the camaro V6 oil pump failing like the SS brothers. Yet another good thing about the 220 CI mouse motor that roars.

Approx 82K now, at about 45K ran out of oil with the oil life meter saying there was 30% life remaining. So rebuilt the bottom end and replaced the timing chain. Unfortunately, I trusted the oil life meter and fortunately I have an extended warranty. So the repairs were covered... whew! I check the oil much more frequently now. I have the catch can but I honestly do not know where the rest of the oil goes as she does use up a quart of oil every couple months or so and it's not all in the catch can.

I think its burning it. I drove from Ga to Colorado and no Sh!t after a two day drive I was down a quart. My catch can was 25% full. I don't know if its sneaking around the rings or what but it does drop. It was about 1500 miles to my vacation spot and 1500 back. I used 2 quarts of oil by the time the trip was over.

I was very surprised because I don't use that much for the whole oil change at home. Maybe it loses 1/2 quart in 5000 miles of city driving.

But take it on a long road trip and you better be checking the oil.

It must be something about long high speed driving that does it. Which you think wouldn't happen because the engine is at about 1800 to 2000 rpm instead of racing up the power band the way I drive around my town. lol

It's kind of a mystery. I think I will look for the oil in the flux capacitor next time I am under the hood.

By the way after the trip I changed the oil and it hasn't moved in 4 months of city driving. WTH huh?

Change your oil often enough and those LLT LFX motors are good little engines. The timing chain can stretch under odd circumstances, but that's not anything overly common.

65,000 trouble free miles for me although it threw a check engine light last winter - a spark plug fouled after it had been stored for 4 months. Otherwise, I have a catch can since break-in miles, and a roto-fab CAI and a ported throttle body, also replaced the stock exhaust with a cat-back CNT Racing system. Very happy with the performance my Camaro gives me.

Lol where should I start? At 42K miles the original motor of the car spun a #4 rod bearing that took out the entire bottom of the motor. No warning signs at all. No reduced power, no burnt oil, no loss of oil before hand. As far as I'm concerned GM f'd something up with the 2010 V6 production based on all the other LLTs having the same problem.

2010 LLT, 53k miles, running 15 PSI of boost, 207 passes down the drag strip, zero issues. Gets faster and faster with age.
