Unbefreakinglievable - insurance

I've had 'fun' getting insurance - I do wonder if some of the problem is the lack of no-claims (it's currently being used on on my SLK55) but given that most companies are putting me on one of their 'schemes' it shouldn't be an issue (in truth I suspect their 'scheme' is one to separate me from as much money as possible).

I am, in all honesty, staggered at the prices - my F150 Lightnings were insured at £300ish (as indeed was the S197 Mustang). To now be getting quotes of £500ish is a shock, I do think that the other thing that could be an issue is that my LHD experience isn't quite as recent as they'd like (last drove LHD 18/24 months ago). OK it is slightly modded (long tube headers, Borla system, CAI and a hypertech tuning box) but nothing too outrageous. That being said I should be a perfect fit for them being 53, no points, no adverse issues etc etc so with all that in mind what was the most 'interesting' quote?

drum roll......

'nother drum roll.....

£11,000 - not that isn't a misplaced decimal point that is an actual, honest to God quote for £11k... ELEVEN FREAKING GRAND!!! I did have a chuckle at that one

£500 is cheap :-)
Consider their risks.
Mine started out at £1350 for the Camaro V6 ... now it's <£500 some years later √

£475 Adrian Flux. Was £300 ish with Admiral on a multi car policy but they won't insure with the blower fitted.

Got my 15 Camaro and 94 Trans Am with Brentacre, less than £500 the 2, but I am getting on a bit.

Ended up as £470 - I guess one thing I didn't think of was the value of the car.

Oh well - first drive (other than test drive) tonight!!

Brentacre were the most realistic for me, happy with all the mods, unlimited miles and agreed value of 25k which they just renewed after 2 years to 25k again.

Think premiums are higher than in the past due to power? My 1984 Trans Am V8 only managed 150bhp, and we now have 400 plus
