Got pulled over in Mesquite by state trooper. I was driving my !987 Monte Carlo SS Aero Coupe, on the way to get the oil changed. Only drove the car a couple of times a month. I asked the Trooper, " Would you drill the front end of your Classic Monte" he told me to get out of there and let me go.

Bought a Jacfab no drill front plate bracket for my Camaro convertible. Check them out, excellent product.

Thank you, hardly ever looks that good, I wish they had not discontinued IBM, that is what I originally ordered. Black sux trying to keep it clean lol.
Agree.. I hate my own finger prints on the door... May be need to wear chauffeur gloves to open the door.

I guess thats the way, but they are expensive $95 with S&H. The ones on the amazon are pretty cheap but the reviews suck.

Yup , not having a front license plate is illegal in Texas again and the fines have increased to $200 for every violation, Read new Transportation Code Sec. 504.947

http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.u...htm/TN.504.htm

P.S. .... the hide away license plates are also illegal in Texas, Read new Transportation Code Sec. 504.946

the Jacfab is well worth the money. Usualy bolts on with the two 10 mm bolts that hold the bottom of the front bumper on. Made out of aluminum, powder coated black, either angle or flat for plate mount, I prefer the angle. Stainless tag hardware. Real first class. Goes on in less than 10 min.

I would just rig something up where it spring hooks on the lower grille. In fact I actually did just that. I actually talked to a cop I see quite often and realized that dash wedging was no longer a good idea since I just confessed a crime! Lol

Bad looks are one thing, but I just can't bare having a hole cut into the bumper.
If anyone drills a hole in my baby it's gunna be me!!

Take a picture of your plate, print it on vinyl, and stick it on.. That started off as a joke, but I may do that since right now I'm breaking the law.

I have seen somewhere in the forums where someone mounted earth magnets behind the bumper and mounted his plate that way. If I had the time I would definitely go that route and just slap it on when pulled over.

Moving back to GA in two weeks, Camaro is leaving Saturday morning, will take care of those little tag and inspection sticker issues...

I have the hideaway plate. The one time I was pulled over for "no plate" I popped it out and the cop thought it was the coolest thing ever.

first, your car looks amazing!!!!

i had my dealership take it off and replace the bottom grille. he asked me if i was concerned. i said i haven't rocked a front lic. plate in 10 years.

good luck with that. in So Cal the cops have more to worry about with all the BMW owners thinking they actually do own the road than to worry about a California girl in a no-front-plate Camaro.

But wasn't that just for the city of Austin? I don't see the point in front plates anyway. If cops are going to have those plate scanners on their car they should be on the back of the car too. On a 2 way road going 40 mph with heavy traffic it is just impossible to read every character on the plates. Besides don't most people get pulled over from the back where plates are normal?
