You can plug it in under the hood or in the trunk directly to the battery. Under the hood is the easiest and most logical as it doesn't require removing panel clips nor pulling back the liner to access the positive terminal on the battery.

I connect the tender directly to the terminals under the hood of my ZLE for the entire winter.
ZERO issues.

If I were hooking up such a charger to my car, I'd do it through the front just out of convenience. The cables involved are made to carry hundreds of amps so I'd guess any effect with a charger is going to be minimal. My cars get driven year round so it's not something I have to deal with. Just pointing out why a mechanic might advise to hook up directly to the battery.

I have a battery tender that came with a connector in the middle of the charging cable, similar to what Calgary posted above. I have the cable hanging outside of the access "port" in the liner, so when I need to charge, I just plug in the cable and it's ready to go.

I think I'll route the connector to the bottom of the car so I don't need to pop the hood everytime

I have the Battery Tender Jr. and the eyelet fits the neg stud just fine.

I was also going to run it through the bottom until I saw a post on here that there is a small space by the headlight that works perfect. I ran it through there and it tucks in right between the air inlet and grill.

I had no luck charging from under-hood locations. I thought it was charging but it wasn't. I now charge in the trunk using the pos/neg leads that come with my trickle charger.

This is also what I have done, I just have a small two amp battery tender so I plug it in directly to the battery from the trunk

I want to use a trickle charger this winter. I purchased a NOCO Genius 1 charger. It has a 12v mode and an "AGM" mode. Evidently, AGM batteries run at a higher charge. NOCO Support says the 12v mode charges to 14.5v and the AGM mode to 14.8v. Does anyone know what what kind of battery we have? It is supposed to be on the label, but my car is already in storage an hour away or I would just look.

All 6th gen Camaros have an AGM battery.

I've always used the under the hood terminals, for 13 years on my 2010 SS and now on my replacement, a 2023 ZL1. There is absolutely no problem doing this.

I use a Battery Tender, which is a smart charger that regulates voltage and current to keep the battery charged but not overcharged during long term storage. I don't think any voltage drop from the remote connection is even a factor for this type of charging. If a connection is inadequate, the device will warn you with simultaneously blinking red and green lights.

The Gen6 positive under the hood post is a bit small for my liking (compared to the Gen5) but everything is working, so no worries.
