Are all of our car bolts strictly metric?

But you are in America, (had to be different from the rest of the world) I technically love the standard system. I grew up on it, even in my metric world. If you can master tenth’s, you can master metric.

Now, SI has arguably become the most popular of these systems, so there is some logic in saying everyone should just use it, if only for that reason... but a similar attempt to popularize the Ultimate, Perfectly Logical Language with No Exceptions and Complexities (esperanto) failed miserably despite how much sense it made on the surface. Then again, the increasingly connected nature of the world and incredible ease of communication eventually ensures that one system gets to dominate, barring a catastrophic global event. (I grew up with the metric system, by the way.)

It is 2024....even my '95 Z28 was metric except the LT1 engine, driveshaft and rear axle assembly. Once they went LS1, that was metric. I prefer metric.

There's never a standard socket that goes missing, right?

They started going metric in the 60's to match Canada. they want us to all change or thinking way back then. Even my snowmobile had metric and that was in the 70's. I even had a test in high school on how to convert both back and forth. Besides don't most people that putts around with cars have both sets of wrenches and sockets? Wait till you try feeler gauges!

The rest of the world is metric except for the US. I wonder when / if they will ever change?

Honestly, I don't mind being "bimeasural" besides being bilingual, converting between Fahrenheit and Celsius in my head keeps some brain cells active, and I treat these measurement systems like a toolbox, just take the best tool for each job. Then again, I do understand the "absolutists" who want metric everywhere, too, life is simpler when you just have one "tool" and you don't have to think about selection or conversions.

I'm a machinist, I've been dealing with metric for decades, just a knee jerk reaction to American companies using metric even though it makes much more sense especially when they are an international company.
