Thrown rod?

1995 lt1. So last night I got home and the car was running fine. Idled fine, sounded fine, everything was good. Oil pressure was at about 20 at idle. I go outside this morning, turn the key, and sounds like I have a throw rod. It was instant. It won't even idle right. It makes a loud banging.
Now i have been working on tuning it, but the most spark retard I logged was 9 degrees and 4500-5000 RPMs. And I quickly backed off the timing. I have tried returning it to the stock tune and no good.
Could it be possible that just from turning the key, it throws the rod?

Was it wet last night? Lots of rain? Did you drive through a deep puddle? Sounds a lot like hydrolock.

No it was dry. Could the timing chain have jumped a tooth and the banging I'm hearing is the pistons hitting valves?

It could be a possibility that the pistons could be hitting the valves...If no water got up under there and you are sure about it then the pistons could be jumping around in there.....tough call to make though.

So it was not a thrown rod. It was a little worse.

The screw holding the air dam onto the throttle body managed to wiggle itself out and.... well you can see for yourself why most people don't put screws in their engines.
