Synthectic Oil??

Yesterday when we obtained possession of our vert, I was told by the dealership, that they are now placing Synthectic Oil in these cars. He stated it started around 30 days ago!! Was anyone else told of this? I haven't gone thru all the paperwork to see if there is a warning or information sticker to this affect!! Just wondering what everyone else was told!!

The V8's have had Synthetic Oil since the time the first 2010 Camaro came off the assembly line. Not sure why the dealer said in the last 30 days.

The oil fill cap on the engine says Mobil 1 5W-30, Has been factory fill since the car came out. Go to the Mobil 1 web site and they list the Camaro as factory fill as well.

Pretty much common knowledge that the SS has come with synthetic from the factory since day one.

I've been running synthetic oil in all my vehicles for years. It allows me to stretch out an oil change to 6000 miles or so and I don't have to replace it as often.

I have noticed that my 2500HD has started to burn a bit of oil over the last few changes. It has 175K miles on it, and I guess the rings are starting to wear. No smoke yet, but I need to decide whether to do the rings or switch it back out to thicker 10W30 and go back to changing every 3000 miles.

It wasn't being synthetic that surprised me. I've been using Mobile 1 for years. It was the 8 quart capacity that blew me away. I'm use to one 5 quart bottle and a filter to knock out my job...

Synthetic by architecture is beneath decumbent to breakdown, and does not charge the abundance of additives all-important to accomplish dino abstract an "effective" oil. Synthetic is abundant beneath decumbent to coking, and beneath decumbent to adorn than accepted oil.

Does anyone know if synthetic fluids are in the tranny and differential? If not, I'll be switching to those after my car breaks in a bit.

Second, even though the Camaro V8s come with synthetic - are you guys dumping it after 2000-2500 miles (break in period) ?

Thanks.
