Trunk Access Security

The remote trunk release button on the drive side door is handy. It is also handy for anyone that wants to get into the trunk. Once someone gains entry into the car either with the top down or up, they can easily get into the trunk. Not that this is different from a coupe, but the ease of entry into the car certainly is. This means you can't rely on securing the trunk from easy access and theft. Anyone have thoughts on how to disable the release button or is this a configuration setting I missed?

Not sure how to disable it. I wanted to open my trunk this weekend. Top was down on the car and doors locked. Reached over and pressed the button and nothing happened. I had to unlock the car before the button would work.

Locking the car disables the button.

Trunk is too small to put anything of value in there anyway!

So if a thief wants in the trunk, they simply need to cut through the roof, unlock the door, and activate the switch. Now wouldn't that setoff the alarm if the car was locked?

Also, wouldn't there be a fuse you could pull under the hood to keep the switch from working, or would that also deactivate the key entry into the trunk?

Does the vert have the pass through rear seat like the coupe? If so, disabling the button won't gain much.

Hopefully locking the car might slow down access to the trunk just long enough to offer a deterrent to a thief.
