Thanks guys I actually did a carfax report on the vehicle and it had the phone number to the dealership the car was purchased at. I talked to someone there and he ran the VIN for me and yes it did turn out to be a true SS

I see you have your question answered, but for others who may run into a similar situation, a true SS will include the RPO code WU8 on the options label on the driver's side door. If any SLP factory options are fitted, the code Y2Y will also appear on the options label, and these SLP options will be listed on the passenger side door for '01 and 02 models.

^^ This is a sure fire way to tell, look for WU8.
Call SLP, you can get some cool stuff from SLP specific to your SS, like a build sheet and birth certificate. Remember, all SS's are also Z28's, so many insurance company's will list an SS as a Z28, mine included. Last edited by JJ#48Racing; 01-22-2009 at 09:06 PM. |

thanks guys I did call the toms river, NJ SLP company and it is a real SS so I will probably buy the car. If I do ill let you guys know again thanks for all your help I appreciate it

The VIN does not differentiate between Z28 and SS. SS was an option on a Z28 that was not coded into the VIN.
