Of course a spare is more ideal and many choose to carry one. The green slime and compressor serves a purpose and will work in most cases. Call OnStar if it too much to handle.

Screw OnStar. I can change my own tire. I'm going to find out what will work and put it in my trunk.

DD my car other than when it rains. Not because it can't handle rain but mostly because I just don't like to expose it to the rain.

I daily drive my car because tomorrow is not promised to any of us on this glorious earth from which we live and plus she is just a well mannered car that provides tons of smiles whenever the engine is turned over. I'm not saving this car for anyone else but me, so I'll be damned if I'm going to deprive myself of the joys of ownership and driving satisfaction.

These cars will not be collector items for at least 30-40 years in my humble opinion for ultra low mileage garage queens. Remove the original numbers matching drivetrain like in the old days and install something else to beat on and still enjoy the car for now. Return to original state when ready to restore, if you have the means to do all of this.

I'm using Micheline Pilot Super Sports during the winter here in mild Ga even as it got down into the teens recently and loving every minute, the Goodyears will be back on for track events.

I just went over 30K on the odometer recently.

Lots of reasons; Wear and tear, mileage, increased maintenance, more occurrences of damage that's out of one's control. The main reason I won't ever DD it is due to the bad traffic conditions and parking with where I work. Additionally I plan on keeping this car indefinitely, so it being in A1 condition is very important to me. You can keep a DD in good to excellent condition, but it is much harder to do depending on one's driving environment.

I want to be able to keep this car a very long time in excellent condition, and not worry about dents, rust, excessive paint damage and wear. My Ol' Lady Camaro set a very good (and very difficult) standard for my 'A' cars, of which I expect my ZL to meet and possibly exceed this.

I also DD my zl1. Have had higher hp cars but nothing as perfect as a combo you get with it. Also just ruined my rear end when we got a cold snap in Los angeles ( had to drive home dom the mountains) driving 25 mph around a turn and the tires literally gave out and swans the rear end into a curb destroying the rear irs. It was 23 degrees out :(. Needless to say those pilots SS are going on.

My wife uses our ZL1 as her DD and she loves it! The Recaro seats are extremely comfortable and worth the extra $2K.

Thank you all for your quick and clear input. Appreciated. I did it. I bought a ZL1 yesterday, Silver Ice Metallic, had choice of recaros but personally for my 2 hrs a day of driving felt the non's would be more comfortable. That was a tough choice, but figure if I made the wrong decision I could always change later - I spent a 1/2 hr jumping back and forth sitting in each, and then drove each.

I live in sunny california, but it's January and there will be some rain (please God), and probably about 15 more mornings where temps are under 45 degrees (could be down to low 30's). I really do need to swap out to all seasons even just for these few days don't I - I don't have another car for my commute.

You will not regret it.
I DD mine (13K miles) for the last year and love it. I also keep my cars, that I like, for a long time. '83 T/A ordered new, 70K miles, '67 442 since 1978, 120K miles.
I've had no issues with the mildly cold weather, ~30* temps for reasonable speeds were not a problem, Florida downpours at high speeds are an issue, so I slow down.
Get out and drive it, you will love it.

Have had mine as a DD for 1.5 years now, 18K miles (after 4 yrs. in a modified SS/RS) and drive it in any and all weather, love it and the auto. Camaro is the ONLY car I have ever had that I look forward to driving it each time as I did the day as the day I got it!

Same here, the good years were terrible in 30 to 40 even 50! I swapped to the MPSSs and although they still do surprise me and break loose at times they are a vast improvement. Mine is a DD for 2 and 1/2 years and I love driving it everyday!
