So my engine is blown!!!

I was leaving work yesterday and was about a mile away doing 40mph and I noticed the car started sputtering and jerking. I went to give it gas to switch lanes so i could pull over and it would go and just slowed down. Went to push the clutch in and downshift then it died and wouldnt crank back up. when I tried to crank it the motor just jolts and wont turn over.
I dropped if off at the dealer and they just called me to say that my Valvespring broke and dropped a valve into the piston. Donno how bad the damage is yet but seems to be severe being it wouldnt even turn over!!! Im waiting to get more info about it

PICS ADDED A FEW POSTS DOWN

Warranty coverage no problem. You have no engine mods and these type of failures although rare, do happen. Good luck & keep us posted

yea man I am sorry to hear that, it definitely sucks the big one.

Please let us know what caused everything to happen, hopefully it is just a fluke and not due to mods (I have CAI and tune so I am pretty much screwed if anything happens to my engine)....

yeah I'm starting to wonder the same. guess it will be written up like the trans. Small # affected not enough for recall.

Got pictures from the valve spring failing. It dropped the valve into the piston and cracked the piston into pieces!!!

Sounds like you have one of those new 6 stroke engines.

Its happened to many of us throughout car ownership...and yes, it does stink.

I know one thing.. GM made these cars to either work on 8 cylinders or nothing at all because she didnt move an inch when it went down to 7 cylinders! lol

I had a valve drop in a 400 once. It had plenty of room to bounce around and only marked up the piston head. The cylinders wall on the other hand was badly scratched and even after honing had major oil burn. I suppose they could bore then sleeve that cylinder.

Are they replacing it under warranty? Looks like you've got headers. Do you have a tune as well?

Just headers no tune! Yea the dealer is being very helpful with the situation. He knows that the headers wouldnt have caused a mechanical failure like a broken spring so hes going to cover it under warranty!!! Thank god!

Well that's good. Off-topic question...did your headers trip any error codes with the stock tune?

No thats why I went with American racing headers because I have friends that went with different brands and the american racing headers didnt throw any O2 sensor codes.
