I have no argument....so there is nothing to pick. If you want this recall done, cool, enjoy. If not, awesome. But painting the picture that this will be some crazy stuff done to our cars (like giving us a broken looking fob or leaving holes in the fob), before we even know what the final result will be after the repairs you're just crazy

They constantly ask me to perform it but cannot without my permission
yep... they will ask us, you are right, and I think it will be totally up to us if we decide to do it or not. I had similar experience with my wife's Honda Odyssey

I purchased my Camaro used (it had less than a thousand miles) and I have only ever had one key. Does that matter? The only reason I will be getting the recall done soon is because my dog chewed up my fob. I went last week to order another one but the service tech said I couldn't.

This just in from Becky at Rogers Chevrolet:

Here's the latest and greatest..............

The recall will require separating the key from the fob
and replacing the key. The original key will be scrapped.

The customer can contact the dealer to have parts ordered
and once they arrive can have the recall performed. The
customer brings the car to the dealer with the car,
proof of ownership and both sets of keys. The fobs will
be reworked and the new keys programmed.

New vehicles will begin shipping from Oshawa on June 23rd
with the new key and fob

Maybe there is a light at the end of this tunnel soon....

My first reaction to the recall was "there is no way I could turn off the car with my knee". Yes I lifted my leg, but in an accident all bets are off about body position. I tried the same test in my wife's Ford Escape and the key position makes it impossible to turn off the car.

I still think it would be a highly unlikely scenario. I will wait to see how they decide to "fix" the "problem" before taking any action.

I'd like to see the new key before I agree to this. If it's awful looking I'll take the risk

Another question I have is what if one of the buttons on your Fob is worn off and broken does this mean you wont be able to get a replacement?

This is SUCH a lie! They aren't taking anything from you! You sign a waiver and that is that.
