Vegas reminds me a lot of our Louisiana IceGators in the ECHL back in the 90's. First season they won their division and set attendance record for the league with 9,700 average. Second season they made it to the finals and attendance rose to 11,400. With this success came the hockey boom where there were 7 teams in Louisiana within just a few years time. That with the veteran rule forcing many fan favorites to have to leave the team eventually drove the attendance down over several years. By 2005 the team was done.

I wasn't familiar with Tampa's ownership woe's. I've always looked at the Lightning as an example of hockey working in the South. And I did enjoy seeing Dave Anderchuck win his cup there.
The Ice Gators actually isn't a bad name. The New Orleans Pelicans should consider changing their name to the Gators. I've never liked Pelicans as a name for a sports team. Anyways, great example of hockey not working in a non-traditional market.

Wow impressive. I've always wondered what I'd do with a crap ton of money, besides filling a garage, and building something always comes to mind. I get a kick out of those ground breaking ceremonies too. A bunch of suits standing around a pile of dirt like they've physically done something. I'm surprised they know which end of the shovel goes in the dirt.

They're going to need that same goaltending to push deep into the playoffs again this year. Or even to just make the playoffs. Tight race in the East and West.

I looked up the mascot for the Golden Knights and was surprised to see it was a large yellow lizard type thing. Given the name of the team I'm surprised they didn't take the easy route on that one.

You might have to become a Penguins fan... or dare I say it a Flyers fan.
The NHL just apologized to Vegas for the major penalty given at the end of the game that ended up completely changing the outcome. I guess there are a few refs that won't move on and call anymore playoff games.

Regardless of the bad call giving up 4PP goals in as many minutes is bad....REALLY bad. That's solely on the players and the coach.
