SOLO VS JBA

Are the Solo hi flow cats worth the 150 dollars more than JBA hi flow cats? I know that most of the time, you get what you paid for. The other times, some stuff is just expensive. Thanks for any information ahead of time

actually ARH is my recommendation...been using them for 3+ years now...ARH opens up the pipe(or necks down the ends) to 3" and the cat is a 3" I/O. I do have the JBA shorties (the ARH shorties are $$$) and they have held up amazingly well with just a coat of hi-temp header paint.


With my Doug Thorley muffler delete and the rest of the mid-pipe section stock incl the resonators the sound is wicked...low rpm's mostly just a rumble but 3k+ she starts to scream(semi big blower cam run N/A).

I dont think there is a discernible difference between the Solo and JBA hi flow cats, I made decent power with the JBA hi flow cats and shorty header setup.

The biggest difference to us is that the Solo's come with o2 extenders that reduce the need for a tune. Also, Solo is a amazing company to deal with and will warranty them hassle free. So if one of the cats starts rattling they'll send you a new one fast. That says a lot.

+1 for JBAs. Highly satisfied with mine, there is no bottle neck or restriction, and are perfect size and a nice oem look imo as well. Buy o2 extenders for like 10 bucks, and buy better gaskets, like 3 dollars each. PM me if you need help. With stock cats, rear o2 sensors were putting out about .66 - .72 volts, with JBAs and extenders, it's almost exactly the same, which is what you want obviously. Made the car sound awesome and increase in power and torque is definitely noticeable, I'd say probably about 15 rwhp.

I have a thread about this actually.

I installed solo high flow cats years ago and had them on for a few years. For the 13+MY you will need the solo extensions plus the big daddies angled extensions.

When I went with catless midpipes, I noticed the solo cats started to fail. As in the cats would move back and forth in the tube with just tilting it, which it didn't do new...... and pieces of the "honeycomb" fell out. This is after probably 30k maybe 40k of use.

So in my experience, I'd save the money and do JBAs.

With the solo extenders and big daddies angled extensions you wont get a CEL if you are catless too. Just food for thought.

I've always liked my Solo catback, but hearing this about warranty on their cats is awesome! Solo FTW!
