I thinks is was pretty cool ,but overall the choices of vehicles didn't make much sense.

that wasn't a 1M, that was a 135i. The 1M is actually right up there with the rest of their M's, but not on a drag. Shoulda brought in the M5 for that. Maybe the M6 if they didn't wanna use a sedan.

but i don't understand the car choice either. it was kind of a random field. Z06 instead of a Zr1? A track edition mustang rather than a GT500? AWD for a few, but not for others? real strange choice. it's like they wanted a certain outcome...........

Why drag race 11 sports cars...because we can

The YouTube comments are pretty typical "GT-R rulz" etc, etc.

Still, fun to watch!

A few things:

  1. It was a promotional video for Motor Trends best Drivers Car 2011, not a real drag race.
  2. They didn't use the ZR1 because while the ZR1 is faster, the Z06 is known to be the better drivers car. Plus, if you read the article you'd find that the Z06 posted the fastest lap at Laguna Seca & still didn't win the competetion. Using a ZR1 wouldn't have changed anything
  3. Steve, this doesn't belong in off-topic
  4. This had already been posted in General Automotive, so its been merged

I love how some people are taking it all serious and stuff. Oh X car was disappointing, Y car should have beat Z car. They said in the video it wasn't serious, it was just because they can! And the majority of the cars in the "race" aren't even designed to shine on the drag strip anyway... lol

Did you watch the video OR read the article? Sure doesn't sound like it.

The 458 was coming on towards the end. Say what you want about the amazing GTR, but I would venture to guess all of those cars with the exception of the lotus are more than capable of handling the abuse repeatedly. You can't say that about the Nissan Frageelay R

Hmm, why the z06 and not the ZR1?

Doesn't a stock ZR1 run 11.2ish stock?
