Start cleaning the top of those pistons and cleaning the gasket mating surface on the block as well. Make sure to put some wd40 on the bores so they don't get rusty.

Pistons might be ok but you'll know more once they are cleaned up. I would replace every single valve though. Those valve locks might be stressed as well, maybe wouldn't hurt to replace them.

Yea I pulled the valves out last night, What kind of cleaner do you guys recommend so I can clean all this up? Again, my concern is the passenger side so definitely keeping my fingers crossed. I have to go to a buddies wedding here in a couple hours and am looking forward to getting this other head off. I hope the passenger pistons look the same or better than the driver, at this point I just want to replace the valves, get new gaskets and head bolts. Also, I am going to take off the water pump, balancer, drop the oil pan, take off the oil pump and make sure that the crank and cam are lined up properly. Nothing but time to do it right. I am on the edge however since I have it off should I get the heads ported and polished....Who knows lol

Dropping the oil pan is a pain in the ass with the motor in the car.

Maybe he meant dropping it a couple hairs just to be able to get at everything.

It does look awful to drop completely with the engine in the car lol

It's not possible without cutting the cross member or dropping the whole cradle. Or pulling the motor out the top.

UPDATE** Yet another update and I wish it was better than the last. As I opened up the passenger side head I found the broken valve, it had apparently broke off and flipped over and embedded itself into the piston. Maybe 1/4 of an inch into it. It may or may not be an issue (lol will let the experts say). But, cylinder 4 is the only one that really has an issue with it. Sucks but what can you do right? Anyway, here are more pictures:

Thanks for all the pics. My room mate had the same results on his cam change on his Chevelle SS over 30 years ago. Net result he installed a bigger engine.

Now is a good opportunity for you to drop in a 7.0L.
