what a shit show...finally got it on the other truck...word to the wise....if you are lowereed (im not) or have a low splitter (i do)...a tow truck is a damn ordeal!!!!!!!after if finally got ont he truck, i pulled the damn thing off with my hands, at least it will be in one piece to put back on later - cause by the time they got the car unloaded, it wouldve been cracked FOR SURE....
anyhow...car is goin today i think to dealer but service is closed...so i wont hear anything for days. i have been around cars for a bit...i would be quite surprised if the engine isnt gone...ive never been in a car that looses an engine, but i assume it was just like what happened to me ,lol...i have high flow cats so i am a bit worried how this might turn out, no tune...CAI...thats it...was doin about 40, just steady side street driving when it started to shudder, no power, lots of clanking....pulled over car is running really rough, clanking getting louder....strng burning smell....and it just died as i was about to shut it down....whole scenerio lasted maybe 10sec...i wouldnt dare restart it... |

L99 or LS3?
My guess is your oil pump failed. Some get stuck and won't cycle oil to the top of the engine. A buddy of mine had the same thing happen and his car was fine after they replaced the pump. I'd have the dealer check that of its an LS3. If not... Sent while on baby duty.... please sleep |

Yeah we all just take it for granted. I make it a routine to check it once a week. Then again, mines a 2010 with 10,000 miles. I hope everything turns out OK for you. Will keep an eye out for ya

10-1 the pump failed. I see you have a 2010 so that's likely it.
Tell the dealer EXACTLY what happened and to check the top of the engine for being starved of oil. If that's it, your mods won't matter, it's a known issue and if they try to railroad you, fight. Typically there isn't any permanent damage as it only ran a second. Stopping and not trying to restart was the best thing you did. As far as checking oil, unless you have a leak, I'm sure there was sufficient oil in the pan, it just wasn't getting into the heads/valves. :( Sent while on baby duty.... please sleep |
