Anyone running Solo HF Cats?
Just wondering if anyone is running the Solo high flow cats on their Z?
I have found only one user (SlingShot) who posted a sound clip. Anyone else running solo's with stock exhaust? Do they sound close to LT headers with cats? Thinking about doing Solo cats and the noweeds diverters. Dont want to tune at this time and looking for some opinions. Thanks! |

I have the JDA High flow solo cats on mine. Install was easy and they sound great, not to loud. Only other mods are a roto-fab, rx catch can and a mild to wild controller.

Click on my sig to go to my build thread. Here's a dyno run video, it made 545 rwhp and 521 ft lbs.

I have been wanting to get these cats as well. I have seen several posts where they have melted down. Could have been the tune? Please keep us updated on how they work out.

Thanks for pointing that out...good to know!.. I am going with the Solo cats. I also have seen posts that mention problems with some of the high flow cats. Maybe the cats were not rated for the hp and exhaust temps some of these cars are making? |

I tried the Solo cats and my experience so far:
Positives: - Nice improvement in sound and did seem to provide a nice bump in HP. - With the extenders on the secondary O2 sensors, they do work with factory tune without causing CELS. Negatives - One of the cats melted during a HPDE event. (Factory tune and boost, only mods are RF CAI and 87mm ported TB) Solo sent me a replacement but as of now it appears these cats may not hold up for road course use. - Required some minor trimming of the belly pan which was unexpected and disappointing. |

my .02 is spend that on money on a better mods. I have heard stories of both solo and JBA melting down at track duty.

Thanks. I have almost 4000 miles on mine and the only issue I've had (with a factory tune) was a CELS. I installed stainless O2 sensor extenders and it fixed the issue. I haven't done any real track racing but I've done quite a few hot laps at the Glen without an issue. I believe I read somewhere on here that tuned ZL1's with increased boost pressure is the cause for melting these cats during extended track use.
