Armrest and 6 speed manual
Prior to buying my 6 speed manual I was concerned that the shape of the armrest would not be ideal to manual shifting. Now after one month of ownership I find this to be true. When I shift into 2,4,6 my elbow hits the part of the armrest that curves around the cupholders rather than sliding atop it. I wish this were designed differently. I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue and if there is a solution out there. I'd be okay with covering the cupholders with a modification.

My arms are fine- but cup holders are useless when shifting.

I also don't mind the armrest.

Armrest is fine to me as well, cupholders work as well though I do wish they were both the same size.

No issue with either the armrest or cupholders. The only issue I have is a place for my cell phone (when the cupholders are in use).

No issues with the armrest here either. I only have issues when there's something in the cupholders.

With no cups in the holders, it's the perfect place for your elbow when shifting. Ideally, the cupholders need to be off to the side and the padded armrest should be in the middle directly behind the shifter. I like it fine coming from a 15 Mustang GT.

If you've ever driven a Challenger, then you can complain, holy bad placement batman. You need to use the door cup holders...

Not a problem for me either. I usually put my cell in one of the cup holders or on the passenger seat. I don't use my cup holders much at all for carrying a drink.

No problem for me in shifting my 2SS stick...as long as the cup holders are empty.
The question really is: where do you put drinks? Two solutions for me. One is a $10 purchase off eBay as pictured below. They fit in the space between seat & console just fine. They almost look "built in".I keep mine on the passenger side until my girl rides along. Then I go to seat back organizers behind both seats. Thinking those would be a no go given my manly girth, but hey, I'll try anything once. Who's going for Slurpies. Let's test this mod right!!

Nowa, use it on passenger side; it is to tight for me as well.
If you have a "girthy" passenger is the reason to have a cup holder in a seat back organizer. |
