Update for anyone else that's ever curious and searching...

I reached out to TSP, as they sell the brass plug, on sizing. I guess it's a 17mm hex. So that's answered.

If nobody is sure, I will try and squeeze caliper in there and measure the size of the old plug if I can. Looks like the line comes undone like the tranny cooler lines into radiator..so just pull c-clip out and line will come out? So after line is moved, a socket should work? I'm guessing 30+mm on that one

I would stick with you on this. Having temperatures so high is not necessary. Keeping sulfur deposits from forming and burning off any moisture is what my concern is. Modern oils in recent times are regulated and processed to remove around 98% + or - by mandates. We complete this process through the sulfur recovery unit SRU in the refinement. You can see this on those cars with the digital gauge, you will see the recommended operating range with the little yellow line. I’m running this range and I’m not seeing deposits or having issues. Running high temperatures will only serve to degrade oil performance.

Both of my Blackstone Lab results were great. Had one done at 100k miles and another at 130k. My next one will be at 150k

Such tests are more centered on engine wear and antifreeze chemicals, and not all compositions of oil.

I seen that and that's why I paid the extra for testing for the additives.

For automotive applications I would use the base test only. There isn’t much value in $400-500 dollar tests when ultimately you will just change the oil. Oil companies have prioritory elements not shown as options for testing.

I don't doubt some tests are expensive. I think it was like $70 to do it all. I may be remembering wrong but it was under 100

Got ya. I think the base test is like 28 plus hazmat shipping. FWIW personally, if something’s out of spec beyond that I would just change the oil.

If you have a 1 1/4 socket that will work also. I would recommend getting a tap just in case. I wish I had when I had mine apart. I got the new plug in but I think it would have been better if the threads were chased. Now that is my experience.. you may have a different. I did buy the tap after in case I ever need to remove it again. Prayers from the man above I don't.

This is where I got my tap but it will take a good 6+ weeks - https://www.ebay.com/itm/S-1pcs-28mm...4AAOSwmmxW52BP

Perfect, thank you! I had measured with caliper on lunch and came up with 34mm, so glad this verified I ordered the right socket! Good info here. Doesn't look like there is really much to it.

I just ordered a 34mm. May come in handy for an axle nut or something in the future. I had a 32mm, so I was close to having it!

I will just see how the plug wants to go in i guess. Don't really want to wait 6 weeks down waiting on a tap! Lol
