Thanks, but I have been here for a little while. Just in the North AL forum. Bought mine in April this year.

Did I catch that right earlier that gas is up to 1.35 euro per litre? Anyone one know what the gas is there? Octane? If I need to change my tune before I come over? I have intake, hedder back exhaust, and custome tune, might get cam before I come too. Since no dealer for warranty anyway!

I lived in Aviano from 96 to 02 but was Air Force then and we has gas coupons. I'll be coming back civilian with base priveledges but over 3 hours away.

Any info and help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Doug
Hopefully you can register the SS on base it will save you some Euro because you will get taxed on how big your engine is annually by the Italian Government and it ain't cheap. Oop's I think there is no taxes in Sicily? You might want to check that out. Also not sure what octane gas you will get at the pumps best thing you can do is get a handheld tuner that does drive datalogging and find a good tuner in the States that can make a custom tune for you and send it via email and all you have to do is plug the handheld in your computer upload the tune then download it into your vehicle. I'm planning on moving back to Italy in a year or two also and thats what I'll be doing.

Hi Doug, I live in Italy so I can tell you some information.
Fuel here has 95 RON (the most used one), 98 RON (at Agip and IP gas stations) and 100 RON (at Shell and Tamoil gas stations).
I usually drive a 10,8:1 compression ratio engine with 95 RON without any issue.
Fuel price in Europe is pretty expensive: currently 95 RON is about at 1,36 €/liter, 98 RON and Tamoil 100 RON is about at 1,43 €/L and Shell 100 RON at more than 1,6 €/liter.
I don't know which kind of fuel you will find in Sicily LOL but 95 RON is, in any case, very common.

About getting Italian plates, my advice is to exploit base benefits, whatever they are: it's rally a pain to get them for Italian citizens.
A lot of them buy American cars in Germany, in order to have the TUV, and then you can "easily" get the Italian plates.

Import price for Italian citizens is about 2 k€ in a 20 feet container (depending also on the shipping harbor and ground transport)
You have, then, to add VAT (20% on declared value) and duty customs (10% on declared value+VAT). I don't know if base benefits apply here too, but I suppose so.

Good luck!

Paolo

Thanks for the info

Doesn't look like I'll be getting the job so won't be coming to Sicily. Thank you for the info, I appreciate it.

Bellina!

Saluti!
