SS 6L80e to TR6060 swap

Instead of de-modding and selling this car, and purchasing another that has a manual trans, I've elected to take the "unpaved road" so to speak and swap in the tremec tr6060 transmission myself.

my parts list so far include:
  • manual transmission BCM (may not need)
  • manual transmission engine harness
  • manual transmission dash harness
  • clutch and brake pedal from manual car
  • TR6060 transmission
  • transmission mount
  • drive shaft setup from manual car
  • trans coolant lines
  • shifter boot and handle
  • pilot bearing
  • trans fluid
Aftermarket upgrades and extras list so far is:
  • mgw short throw shifter
  • clutch reservoir
  • DSS 1400hp axle shafts
  • HUD setup (might as well since ill be in there)
  • braided clutch line
  • street slayer twin carbon clutch and flywheel
Obviously this is not a cheap swap, as ive already spent about $6500, a lot of it was on aftermarket upgrades. I have about 3200 for all of the factory parts, which included a 2012 TR6060 transmission with about 400 miles on it. After taking into consideration the modifications the car already has, I would lose a huge amount of time, effort, and money putting it back to stock and selling this car only to re-install everything on another car that wouldn't be in any better condition, or smell newer inside.
obviously this swap would not make sense at all for anyone who can not do their own work on their vehicles, or care about any warranties. I could only imagine what a shop would charge to do this swap on an hourly rate.

Im going to start tearing the car apart next weekend, and ill post pics of my progress. I doubt this will be a one weekend job.
According to others, the mechanical components all bolt right up, the trick here will be to get the electronics to work together as it would on a manual car.

Armed with only a service manual, tools and a large set of cajones, my plan is to:
  • remove and reinstall the dash to incorporate the HUD, the pedal setup from the manual car, and the dash wiring harness from the manual car. The harness is different, it allows for the clutch pedal switch. I also read somewhere that there is an extra connector to the instrument cluster, but I have not confirmed yet.
  • remove automatic transmission setup, and install manual transmission setup.
  • create a "hybrid" wiring harness to work with the L99 engine and the Tremec 6 speed transmission.
  • modify the ECM and TCM using HP tuners software to reflect the transmission swap.
I know I will come up against a few unplanned issues, but hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I can get this to all work as well as a factory built manual car.

Andy at ADM just swapped my car from a TR6060 to a stalled 6L80. I have a ZR1 clutch, RPM level IV 6060, LPE flywheel, DSS 1 piece driveshaft, wiring harness, shifter, pedal assembly & everything else that came out of the car. All parts only have 3,000 miles on them, let me know if you need something.

I take it you don't drag race much? I hope not, because welcome to a world of crap with that manual trans if you do! Good luck with your swap though, 6 speed is definetly more fun on the street.

There is only a 1/8 track out here, the 1/4 was shut down a couple years ago.

Its going down right now.

auto trans is out, dash is out, and im putting in pedals now.
I ran into a small issue

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...11#post7024611

im going to go install the clutch and trans now, hopefully I can get a measurement off a manual car so I can mount the clutch pedal.

the auto trans is really heavy compared to the manual!
