Trans Tune Issues

I have had my engine and trans tune for the better part of a year. We have tried over 20 different tunes and can't seem to get it the way I want it. One issue we keep struggling with is downshifting. The engine will rev up as it downshifts and it will throw your head back. It also seems like each gear downshift acts differently. Does this sound normal or is something just not being tuned correctly. Livernois is the shop tuning it and I even went as far as driving it 550 miles to them for a retune and still couldn't get it. I was going to have someone else try to tune it but was told by livernois that no one else can access the computer to tune it.
Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Scott

Your tune is locked by Livernois. Your best bet it to buy a new ecu and flash it with your stock file. Then do a retune on that. Livernois will not unlock there tunes

Did you sign paperwork giving Livernois full ownership of your ecu? Is this legal? There should be at the very least a fee to unlock.

You need to be more clear on what it's doing. You had an aftermarket torque converter in a car before? (serious question....no flame)

Just went through this with another tuner, had to get a new ecu and have the dealership flash it back for me, it shifted horrible, got a tune from Ted not as aggressive but the car is running great so I am leaving it alone...

Most tuner lock the ecu after they tune it, so no one can see how they tune it...just learned this the hard way...: thumbdown:

I agree......nonsense and illegal unless you signed an agreement stating such.
You have alot of patience to stay with them.... 20 tunes? Sheeeeesh! Sounds like an R&D project.

I got mine tuned through Tampa...2 flashes and they were spot on!

But you do have 400lbs of TQ, 3000 stall, and 370 gears and the "downshifting" is definitely a science.....and it is different by downshift gear....lots of variables.

? Does it behave (or have the same issues) the same when downshifting in automode or tap-shift.....or is it different?

And is your tune "actually" locked or did they just tell you it was locked?

Maybe you just had a bad experience with a bad tuner that didnt want to show his work. I know guys that do that, and its just a stupid business practice. I have shops all over the world recieve mail order tunes from me, and im very proud of the work Tampa Tuning turns out.

Ive never locked a tune. The tuner should never lock the tune because its not their car. You paid for the tune, its your tune. You are the owner of the tune.

No I didn't sign anything. The only way I found out was when I told them that another shop was going to try a tune it.
