Any CA people ditch emissions?

Seeing how many of you CA guys have said forget the emissions and thrown on maybe a set of long tubes? Just curious to see what kind of gains you guys have seen as far as seat of the pants goes (I've seen the dyno numbers online). What about the sound difference? You decide to leave the cats or ditch them too? What about how you ran the pipes after the LT's? (i.e. straight pipe, x-pipe to mufflers, etc). Let me know...curious to hear peoples thoughts who have ditched California's crap emissions laws and everything else holding our beasts back and who have sided with life, liberty, and the pursuit of one bada** Camaro!! :flag2:

I'm not sure if people will want to admit to doing so on the forums. I have thought about it, but mehhhh....still on the fence.

I don't see any harm in doing so...we aren't going to attempt to report someone...and even still they can feel free to white lie to the forum and say it's for "off road use only"

I have the L99 auto and have cooks LT's and full exhaust with the cooks hiflo cats. As for gains it's hard to say because I did it the same time with a supercharger and CAI. As for the sound when at idle it sounds good, deep muscle car sound but not real loud, a sleeper. Under moderate acceleration it's not too loud. At WOT it's pretty darn loud, especially if there are walls or buildings around for the sound to bounce off.

I'm going to have to agree with Revo1. Being a conservative here in CA, to hell with Sierra club and to hell with all these bogus emissions laws. If a guy has a car and wants to throw long tubes on it, by all means enjoy! CA government takes this crap way to far. You go one state over and they could care less about a pair of metal tubes, sometimes a matter of just 50 miles away and you can get away with the things you can't over here due to emissions this...the ozone layer that....smog. I'm just saying, don 't be sucked into the emissions ideals that "CA is setting an example that everyone else is going to follow in years to come". With the taxes we all paid on these new Gen 5's and the registration we're going to pay here on it you'd think the government would be sending us a set of LT's in the mail. Just sayin.

CARB can KMA! I am putting what ever my wife let's me on my car.

In all seriousness, I plan on putting LT's and an agressive sounding muffler system on her as soon as the company I'm working with get everything ready to roll. My goal is 500rwhp and I'll be damned if I'll let the idiots elected by a bunch of tree huggers tell me what parts I can use on my car.

I'm really thinking about it. You get so much dang power it's hard to resist.
I am kinda concerned about the environment, but LT's can still have cats. But I just don't feel like being ticketed by LAPD or Highway Patrol. If cops aren't bothering people, then I'll do it.

Things may be different down in LA than up here in Bakersfield but I was never bothered by any law enforcement on my 08 Sierra that had LTs and magnaflow. I think it was more of me venting, I just am pretty fed up with all the rules and everything they keep adding to help the environment.

And my reasoning behind venting is probably because after 6 years of needing no smog on my 04' Duramax the DMV changed the emissions laws effective Jan 1st so that my truck needs to be smogged now. Yeah seems fair to me pretty much!!
