That was definitely before my time. Carry on.

Although the MSRP on the 86 Z28 was around $13k, that is however with no idea of the options.

Interesting comparison.

I traded my 2010 SS in on a 2011 Mustang GT. I enjoy drag racing and the price of getting the Camaro to where I wanted was looking like $6,500. The Mustang was less than half and as I get further into it, looks like even less.

I really did like my Camaro and miss it from time to time. It is a great car and I really like the pushrod motors however Ford got it right on the drivetrain in the 2011. There is a member over at S197 that just went 11's with nothing more than lower control arms, tune and ET Streets in 2,200' DA. Pretty damn amazing from where I sit and I have been into 1/4 mile racing for years.

Ford had the benefit of running the Mustang with the same basic drivetrain from 2003-2009. When the Camaro came out, Ford had to up the ante. Both the Camaro and the Mustang are very good cars, and the final decision comes down more to asthetics than 0-60. I know guys who rave on the Camaro, and those who think that GM hit a foul ball. The Mustang also has it's fanboys and detractors. The competition is good for fans of both cars.

If I could not get a Camaro I would have gotten a 370z. If I could not have gotten a either of those I would of gotten a Mustang. I had an 05 before the Camaro and I loved it. The 5.0 is impressive but the Camaro is a lot meaner looking.

There is absolutely NO drone in the A6 Camaro Stock.. Sorry!

His comments about the Mustang having Round Vents on the corners and flat ones in the center and Not liking them????? Thats the same Vent configuration as the Camaro LOL!

Also the Mustang Steering wheel controls are recessed DEEPER than the Camaros!

a stock l99 vs a stock 5.0 leaves alot to be desired--- gm really shit the bed in two ways---

1: sacrificing 26 hp

2: a trans tune so weak it makes an 83 th700 seem manly.

a good tune really wakes them up-- but that's not stock anymore.

yea the A6 5.0 has a real advantage over the A6 L99 in stock form.

I like the Camaros, but owna 5.0 Mustang. Why, it is the better over all package hands down. The 5.0 is very advance, smooth and almost euro like, as opposed to the aging push rod. Don't get me wrong, I like the Chevy engine too, but there is no comparison really.

And, there are several reports (dyno verified) of Mustangs at 430-435 at the crank in stock form. You have to drive both, just like the OP did, to really appreciate this comparison.

That said, when your just driving the camaro and the stang, I give the camaro a huge advantage, feels and sounds much more solid. Takes rough roads MUCH better, especially cornering as far as solid feel and control.

At high speed, +100 mph, the camaro feels MUCH more solid to me, likely the added weight.

Looks, not even a comparision.

This drone you talk about, I have a hard time believing that a factory L99 had anything that you could call drone. My L99 was so quiet it was on the boring side as far as sound, even when you got in it. I installed an SLP axle back exhaust on mine and then there was a DRAMATIC drone, changed to a cat back corsa exhaust and no drone at all, I do not understand what your talking about with drone. The factory camaro is one of the quietest cars I have driven, to quiet in my opinion.

Plus, I spend $3500 in add ons and am pushing 500 crank HP. What would it cost to get a stang to that level? What does a GT500 cost these days, and in the end, you still have a stang on the outside and you need a supercharger to get it to 500 HP. Put a supercharger and some add ons on an L99 or LS3 and its not hard to get 550 rwhp in the L99 and pushing 600 in the LS3 and for pretty much the same price as a stock GT500.......

While I agree with many of your comments, others are just off the wall from what I have seen driving the stang. Unless the 2011 is totally different as far as handling, which I do not believe it is, I do not see it as being anything near an "All Around" better car then the camaro, in fact I would say just the opposite.

I don't really get the mod thing. THe Mustang seems to respond as well as the LS3 if not better, of course that has a lot to do with the complete package. Keep in mind because of weight and gearing you do not need 500 RWHP to keep up with a 500 RWHP Camaro. Around 450-460RWHP in the Stang should be right there with a 500 RWHP Camaro and I believe that should be possible with the same amount of money or less in the Mustang.

Dude, the only differences between a 10 and 11 Camaro are colors and hving HUD on 2LTs and 2 SSes, NOTHING that would affect this review.

Everybody's sister has a Mustang...you have to spend 50k to get one a man would drive...If it was such a "Great Car" then why did they have to put $1500 bucks on the hood this summer to get people to buy them instead of arguably the hottest selling car on the market?...Up until the 2011 model year the Stang had a base V6 that was just slightly more powerful than a Toyota Camry...lol... the Camaro is a great rebirth of an American Muscle Car
