2017 1LT R/S stereo amp location w/ wiring diagrams

All the threads and videos I see show an amp in the trunk (somewhere). I sure as shit can't find it- if it exists in this model. My kid just bought the car and wants to add a sub box to it. Stock stereo- non Bose- standard 7" MyLink

Help. lol

Either way, the main question is where should he pull the inputs from?

I'm pretty sure the amp is only with the optional Bose system.

I thought so too but people are saying the "regular" amp has straight fins and the bose amp has diagonal fins. So.....?

OK... So... no amp. Had to draw inputs from rear (side) speakers.
I'm attaching temporary photobucket links of the wiring diagrams specifically for this car thanks to a friend... Copy and use as you wish. Hope it helps.

Another option would have been to use this:

For $850 I could have dropped it off three times at a stereo installer and not had to worry about it either. lolol

Lol, this is true. My audio installs typically run $5k-$10k in each of my cars, and having the right piece means a lot in terms of audio fidelity, but it comes at a cost. This NavTV piece allows fiber optic and coax digital connection directly from the factory dash, to a processor, to a digital amplifier. It allows one to bypass the factory amp for a completely flat signal, but all door chimes, warnings, etc continue to work, and you din’t Have to remove the factory microphone (if so installed)

It really is a remarkable piece!

What drfeelgood says is true but and a big BUT at the cost how long will you keep that car? What made me get M-650 is the flat non of the head unit messing with the sound but I have a BOSE and that's what they do. It comes down to how important is the SQ? Also 1 thing that every system has for $5-10K is poor quality source like the old Van Halen or Boston or Journey (non remastered audio updates) sounds poor because the lack of bass and the dynamics of the old 1/4" tapes lack that SQ! But with higher quality recordings like Dire Straits there SQ source can sound awesome. I got a remastered Pink Floyd Dark side of the moon sounds awesome, so the source is the most important part of a $5-10K system as it can't improve whats not there. I wished it did like Alpines sound DP did.

The 1SS 1LE guys also don't have an amp, so you're not alone here.

Doing my audio system, I tapped speaker-level signal from each bulkhead connector going from the wiring harness to each front door, then ran twisted pair back to my miniDSP. From there I ran RCA outs to my front stage amp and subwoofer amp, running new speaker wires to the dash positions, and splicing into the wiring harness for the door locations.

Yes, I think it's important at all levels

1. SOURCE -
most people think that all music on a usb is the same. They don't understand sampling rate, bit depth, and bit rate, and how a given mp3 (which is just one type of audio codec) file can run from sounding OK to really really good.

I have an audison bitplay HD, which is a digital source, running fiber optic to a digital amp and digital sound processor. As a unit, it is phenomenal because it also plays FLAC files. FLAC is a lossless audio codec which reproduces original recordings as good or better than any other format http://www.hdtracks.com/ I purchase my flac albums here.

2. DRIVERS - having the right source is where it starts, but if you play HD music through a tin can, it still sounds like crap. Drivers are very critical to reproducing music. I use Hybrid Audio technologies (HAT) drivers. I have done so for the past 10 years and have not regretted it. You should take a moment and read up on Scott Bewulda and HAT. Former sound engineer and audio competition guru who decided he would create a company with superior drivers for less than the competition. His speakers pretty much dominate every IASCA SQ competition around the world.
https://hybrid-audio.com/

**note** I am not affiliated with HAT, I am not sponsored by them either. I switched from DYNAUDIO and FOCAL over to HAT, and have never been happier. These really are the best audio drivers I have ever heard, at any price point.

3. AMPLIFIERS - The right amplifier is almost as important as the right driver. You really take away from the driver when you power it with a low quality amplifier.

4. SOUND PROCESSOR - While sound processing is important regarding time alignment and imaging, I would argue that for 90% of individuals, it is the least important aspect, or less so than drivers and amplifiers.

drfeelgood, thanks, I look forward in reading that info! Like I wrote before I was so dispointed when I went to listen to my past classic rock music to hear how poor it was recorded. I was looking at HDTracks but any of the classic rock they only sell the whole disc, but they list separate tracks but you can;t just buy 1 Van Halen song in HD.
So ordering only remastered cd's hoping for much better quality from bass to highs, but the issue is back then the 1/4 tape and EQ does not live to today's amps and speakers and DSP ect....

Thanks
Christopher
