What I was waiting for was the cold air intake which has already been out for awhile. But why if you use it does it void your power train warranty? Specifically says it will in the 2015 performance catalog.

If you really look at it, most of the parts that can make your car perform like a z28 are available, but the parts to make it look like a z28 are not. That is the split Guys A and B used.

Hmmm....
Somehow I like the idea of full Z/28 gear in a base V6 envelope..... |

Nothing has changed. The parts that GM originally listed as restricted are still restricted like the wheels, brakes and carbon fiber hood insert to name a few. The plan to offer some of the Z/28 parts is still in effect and hasn't changed since it's inception.

Like the cloning issue or not, if you watch Barrett Jackson or Mecum car auctions, some of the cloned 60s Camaros are fetching pretty good prices over the bone stockers. I'm sure todays cloning happens because the originals went higher than "sky high" in price, making a well done clone, a viable option.
Today's Z28 won't be cloned for quite some time and I believe it would be cheaper to buy an original if you wanted the entire package. GM parts are pretty expensive.

who's gonna make the after market flowtie, please?
gimme a break - a Z/28 IS A Z/28 - there's no doubt about what car it is, let us working folk who can only come up with $30,000 - $40,000 have the freakin' little ornamentation that we can afford. It will NOT devalue your awesome work of art.

To me, all these arguments one way or another are pointless.
If I want some Z/28 specific parts to put on my car, then I will find a way to obtain them, and I will put them on my car, and I STILL won't give two flying f***s whether you have a hissy fit or not about it. Example- I like the grille, but don't give a flip about the flowtie. Rear spoiler is cool, so I might add that. Center scoop on the hood- why not? But as far as posing, that's not something I would care to do. Never have. Be proud of what you have, and enjoy modding the car YOU want. My advice- if you want to mod, then mod. If you really want a Z/28 but think you can't afford one, then don't spend a dime on your current car and save that and more, so you can buy yourself a real Z/28. As with the ZL1, there will be SOME people out there that just want the latest and greatest thing without regard to whether it makes sense. After the purchase, they're no longer hyped about it, and after a while, there will be some used ones out there, albeit more rare to find. The hunt is more appealing to them than field dressing the kill.

GM even waded in on the "cloning issue".....The very reason they give for the restriction in the first sentence is very telling... |
