smoked tail lights/side lights in texas
i live in texas and am curious about the smoking out of the tail lights and the side lights. my concern is the limit on how dark they can be. does anyone in texas or anyone in general know what the darkness level is on these lights? thanks!

I don't think there is a level. Your lights are required to reflect other lights to a certain degree.
I know in the past they would ticket you for any type of dark out on the lights. Some have posted about being pulled over and ticketed recently. Depends on the LEO's mood i guess.

The reflector part of the tail lights have to be visible from 300 feet in normal headlights at night. And the light itself has to be visible from 1000 feet.
So if your tint makes the lights reflect properly, or too dark to see from 1000 feet it wont be legal. The info is on this site http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.u...47.htm#547.302

I was pulled over and cited for the taillight tints...then went to the ADA and beat it!
All about it, including how I beat the citation here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71967

I normally just drive with my parking lots on (Halo's, fog's and tail lights) and due to the fact that the tail lights are on and illuminate the Red light, i have never been stopped.
