Someone please answer me this???
Why would GM not put parts like a catback or a CAI on the car to begin with. If you get better gas milage and more HP then wouldn't that be a good thing for both us and them. Im sure if they made it stock and mass produced and ordered the cost would be minimal. Basicly saving us and them money. I sure would not have minded paying the extra $$$ to get more power and better milage. I know they are trying to keep the cost down, but how much more could it really have cost???? Remember to subtract the cost of the stock exhaust and air intake. Maybe its me???

It's a conspiracy by SEMA and the Aftermarket.
Actually it's an age old question. The OE's build for the masses, not the niche (us). Things we put up with, even enjoy, exhaust noises, air intake nosies. Other folks would hate and think it's all bad. Also they build to a EPA Emissions standard that is hard to meet with a system we would like. Remember they are required for that car to meet those standards for 50,000 miles. It's a balance between what the consumer will accept and the profit margin. Kinda like there are Corvette's with LS3's. If you want more you can spend more and get a Z06, but it's a smaller market. If you want even more you spend lots more and get a ZR1, but that's and even smaller market. At the end of the day they are here to make money. (so they can pay the taxpayers back) |

+1 ^^^^^^^^^ There's your answer. By law, they have to keep the noise levels down from the factory...
