Question about trading in a modded vehicle

Did/do you lose more value for your trade-in because of your aftermarket mods (such as headers, exhaust, etc.)?

Normally speaking they won't offer less unless it's heavily modded. You do lose the cost of the mods as normally they won't offer more than book value so you're basically giving them the mods for free.

What he said right above. De-mod and sell them for Xtra cash if possible. Otherwise, cut your losses.

My girl bought an SUV a couple months back and they asked her if there was anything aftermarket installed on her trade in which is weird because I have never been asked that question ever. I won't care about the mods (when the time comes to trade her in) but was most curious if the dealer would give you a lower value because of the aftermarket upgrades or things they didn't consider "original equipment".
