A story about true love. (well kinda)

I work in retail and I just had a customer pull up to my store driving a two door Maserati. He comes in and asks another store rep who owns the yellow Camaro out front? He points towards me and says its his car.

So the customer asks me about my Bee and tells me that's the sweetest new Camaro he's ever seen. He tells me he likes the car so much that he'd be willing to trade me his Maserati for my car. At first I thought he was BSing me. But he quickly made it a point to say he was dead serious.

After talking to the guy more and more, I got the impression he's very well off and he's use to getting his way. I told him I didn't like Maseratis but no offense. He then gave me his business card and told me to name my price.

I said no thanks because my car has sentimental value to me. He then told me everyone has their price and to keep his business card.

I love my car to death but I was still very flattered that I own something that a what seemed to be a wealthy person wants.

Why doesn't he just buy one instead?

Take the Maserati, Sell the Maserati, Buy another Camaro. Quick before he changes his mind.

Wow, crazy story. Maybe he just arrived from a foreign country where Camaros aren't readily available?

I wouldn't play that game with a guy like that...he doesn't want your car...his ego wants to see if you'd sell your soul...

I thought about that. But I have no idea what those cars run (value wise) and I'd be too afraid of sitting on the car too long. We live in a somewhat small town. I can't imagine too many Maserati buyers in my area. lol

Plus, my Bee has been very good to me. Zero problems, zero issues. Maybe because me and my car have always had a mutual understanding since day one: It takes care of me and I take very good care of it.

Tell him ca$h only and trade the camaro for the maserati. If you then decide to sell it is up to you. Camaros are mass produced cars (not that maseratis aren't). Point is, they are always replacable.

Yeah that guy had the "I'm feeling richer effect" since he rented his Maserati for the day and switched to Stright Talk.

I love my Camaro. But I'd take a Maserati Gran Turismo (assuming this is what it was) over my SS any day of the week! You could buy 4 SS's for 1 Gran Turismo.

Boy do I wish I was in your shoes that day....

I understand. Call the guy get the exact model, year, mileage, and check it out. Doesn't matter where you live there's a big city close enough to sell the car in.

Knew a guy who sold cars once. One of his customers was so ticked at his new Aston Martin he offered to sell it back to the salesman for a $1. Salesman refused thinking the guy was just complaining. The guy turned to another salesman standing nearby and made the same offer. The other salesman became the proud owner of a brand new Aston Martin. Some people have a lot of money but money doesn't buy common sense.
