Our expectations too high?

I am wondering with all the things we expect out of this car, are our expectations too high? Will it get to the point where we want so much and when it comes out and can't do or doesn't do that we are gonna be extremely disappointed?

Me personally, I am looking forward to the car (as we all are), but I have kept my expectations at a reasonable spot. Give me good power and decent gas mileage and I will be good to go, after all it is a Camaro.

Some members of this site have developed this fantasy 550-hp miracle Camaro that will crush all on the streets and bring out the messiah, but the truth is that this car is just a car. It will look cool and be a future collectible. It will have more horsepower than the archrival Mustang and will probably beat the Challenger in any form of race. It won't weigh too much, but it will weigh more than a lot of cars that we own on this site, namely old Camaros, economy coupes, and economy sedans. It will beat most imports, but don't expect it to beat the GT-R.

Do we have high expectations? I think that's fair to say, but we can only thank GM for giving us these lofty goals and fulfilling them upon release.

I think anyone with rational thinking will be surprised by what we will get for the $$$. And it will excede most peoples expectations.

My expectations are high, but it's only because of the information that has already been confirmed. I know I won't be disappointed.

There are things we can't even begin to imagine about this car: Surprises that have been "promised" to us. I have no idea what GM has up their sleeves, but I am prepared to be blown away!

Are expectations too high? No. I don't think anyone seriously expects to see a $25k 430hp Camaro at 3400lbs with 30 mpg. If they do, they deserve to be disappointed because they need a SERIOUS reality-check.

From what I've been reading, it almost seems as though peoples' expectations are too low as far a pricing, and power, etc...Lots of folks seem to be protecting themselves from disappointment, by expecting the 'worst'. It's understandable: I'm doing it a little, too.

Bottom line: don't expect the example I gave above . But don't think GM is going to put out a tame Camaro, either -- in any category.

Yes it's just a car, but...

This car is about emotions. The design of the exterior and the interior is just plain fun. It looks intimidating, but lovable. The interior is completely different and keeping it as close to the concept as they have is incredible.

High horsepower and torque to sink you into the seat, handling and braking to match.

My latest fixation has been on the doors. Notice the top of the doors come up to the shoulder of some drivers. Next time you get in your current car, notice the tops of the doors in relation to your shoulder. The windows are small, but properly placed for outward vision. Member camero said you sit down in the car and look out tiny slits.

If this car is executed right, it will be a dream machine. That's why our expectations are so high. You are not alone.

I think some people expect too much, some too little. We've seen some people who will be furious if the Camaro doesn't have 600+hp for $19,999. We've seen others who think the V6 could be $30,000.

I do worry sometimes that we're too optimistic and hold expectations that are too high. When critical articles come out we so easily dismiss them, but sometimes I wonder if they may be more objective and realistic than we are. So I do feel the need to be cautious with my expectations. However, I like what I see actually coming out of Chevy recently, so at the same time I know as long as my expectations align with what we know as fact for current Chevy vehicles, I'll be ok.

I am with the original poster, trying to keep my expectations reasonable. I ignore most of the hype and the bitchin back and forth about headlights, spoilers, powerplants, weight, etc. etc. That being said, with every new photo or video of the car on the streets, I am having a hard time keeping expectations on an even keel!

I think that when the Camaro finally comes out there will be small things that we wish were slightly different or we wish it had, but what we have seen of the preproduction cars continues to support our love for this vehicle. Plus, every time I see one of the concepts in person, I am just completely blown away by how good this car looks in person. Now I'm just hoping to see some of the actual cars on my dealers' lot.

Well, my expectations are that I will be able to order a Camaro with Bumblebee yellow (perhaps not Valspar Sunrise but something very close) And painted Dark grey metallic stripes.. I do not want sticker stripes.. As for everything else, as long as it is a V8 SS/Z28, I will be happy.. I'll order the largest wheel's possible with rims that look like the concepts.. A rear spoiler is a must and hopefully one that also looks like Bumblebee's. I'll also order from factory the darkest tint they have for the Camaro. Since I will be ordering the V8, I'll get whatever comes standard and if Leather is optional, I will settle for cloth...If leather is extra, it depends how much before I decide to pay for it.. I live in Florida so leather is hard to maintain and gets super hot.. The Bumblebee interior in the Transformers movie was actually orange stripes with black leather seats. I don't think I will choose those color's for my interior simply to match Bumblebee.. I'll probably get yellow accents instead of orange and dark grey seats instead of black.. However I might get Tan color for the seats and interior simply because of the heat.. Decisions...Decisions...

our expecations are high but not too high. anything better than a 360 hp, 25 mpg (hwy), for $29 000 is actually expecting alot from the auto industry. the fact that the Camaro should beat all of these? thats amazing.

I agree, even though I will be disappointed if it isn't 400HP or greater just because I know the technology is there for it already.
