I filled out this survey that was emailed to me. Pretty short and sweet. V8 or 4 cylinder. No brainer for me.

Turbo 4's are not more efficient than a V6. It's all propaganda. Horsepower takes fuel.

Either they kill the V6 or the V8. It’ all about emissions. The Hybrid is just the consequence. Look at the Porsche Panamera E- Hybrid it is a fantastic sport / sedan car. Sooner or later we will have in all engines a hybrid or just pure e-power.

i own a 6 cylinder, but was loaned a turbo 4 during warranty work on the TPMS.have to admit it was surprisingly fast, but the premium fuel required probably makes fuel economy a wash compared to the 6.

I love my 6.2, but how cool would a 9.2 liter engine be. That would be a ground pounder.
I recently went to a coffee and cars, and a guy started his early 70’s Trans Am with a 455 SD engine with a perfect Cam, and you could feel it in your bones.... Totally frickin awesome.... My point is that one of these days you could figure out how to get a 4 cyl engine to be faster than my 6.2 V8, but it will never sound as bad ass.... and mine will never sound as good as a TA SD |

I might add that as someone that grew up around cars and trucks that the majority had V8’s, I am ok with a trend toward fuel efficiency, and environmental effort...
That said, I see all these compacts out on the street with heavy mods and they still sound like my wife is vacuuming during the game.... irritating...lol |

not really sold on a hybrid motor, an additional 90HP for 4k is nice.
Whats the weight of the batteries to produce an extra 90HP? If my batteries need to cool down/drained, am I just lugging extra weight? I'll take my v8+supercharger combo. Low maintenance, more power gain, power when I need it, cheaper overall.

If it's true GM is thinking about not using the v6 in favor of the turbo 4, it's about the dumbest thing I ever heard of. Engineering wise, econo wise, absolutely nothing about it makes sense. GM must have hired some kind of idiot pushing an agenda.
Simple fact, mentioned before--- Horsepower takes fuel, period. Too many advantages using the 6 to do the job in this case, that's the way it is. Too darn good of an engine to toss out of the lineup. |

As to the excuse (argument) of being enviromentally friendly, which I have studied, the earth has been an ice covered rock all the way to the equator, to having subtropical conditions at the poles with critters running around there. Last ~15k years, there has been extremely mild conditions prevalent here.
Be forewarned, these "ideal conditions" will definitely not last, so any arguments along the lines of "eco-friendly" simply are based on fallacy and are extremely short sighted. So I'm in favor of using as many cylinders as the owner wants---V12's anyone??!! |

This survey is a new twist....Asking about something they likely have already decided on years ago...lol...Gee, we are just so "involved"....a new type of "focus group" perhaps?
No matter how lousy things turn out, it will be because they asked and listened to customers...Yeah, right...Nobody wanted big V-8s anymore...just look at the survey!...Oh well, it's a fun futile exercise for a meaningless issue.... The dies were already cast years ago....They already have the data from what engine choices customers have already made from what is available now, yet they have no clue what future sales might be?....Ok....got it. Sorry, but it seems like a lame attempt at some sort of customer impact....Good PR, I suppose, but likely geared to what they are going to do anyhow. |
